Asia’s leading light festival, i Light Singapore, will be returning from 5 to 28 June 2026 to illuminate Marina Bay, and will extend once again to its satellite site at Raffles Place for an enchanting multi-venue experience. Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and presented by UOB, i Light Singapore 2026 features 14 delightful light art installations by 17 artists – transforming the Marina Bay waterfront into an open-air gallery. This year’s line-up spotlights regional talent, bringing together more than 10 artists from Singapore and across Asia to present their diverse perspectives.

Built around the theme of Movement, i Light Singapore 2026 invites visitors to discover the expressive power of motion – and become part of the art itself. The Festival explores how every gesture, from the simplest footstep to the gentlest touch, can spark change. From meditative ripples of water to a reimagined “fishing” experience with the sun, the eclectic line-up of installations invites reflection while igniting conversations among visitors.

“As one of Marina Bay’s signature events, i Light Singapore continues to captivate locals and international visitors alike, transforming the waterfront into a vibrant evening destination where communities come together – fostering connection, creativity and a shared sense of place. This year’s theme, Movement, embodies the spirit of Marina Bay – constantly evolving as a People’s Bay. By bringing art into our public spaces, we are transforming the precinct into an interactive gallery, where visitors can explore and experience how individual actions can collectively shape our environment,” said Mr Lim Eng Hwee, Chief Executive Officer, URA.

A journey through nature’s rhythms of renewal

Along the Marina Bay waterfront, visitors will encounter light installations that are inspired by nature’s dynamic forces and be reminded of the delicate balance needed to sustain our environment. A key highlight is WAVE by Masamichi Shimada (Japan), presented by UOB, located at The Promontory. Activated by visitors tapping silver sticks on the ground, the artwork recreates the meditative rhythm of raindrops hitting a puddle. Rippling waves of light and sound built into a musical rhythm, invites reflection on the cascading effects of our actions.

Mr Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, UOB, said, “UOB believes in connecting and uplifting our communities through the arts, and we are pleased to once again be part of i Light Singapore. The festival theme, Movement, reflects how progress is shaped when people and ideas come together with purpose to drive positive change. WAVE embodies our belief that every action and connection we make can create a ripple effect that brings people together and reflects our steadfast commitment to doing right by our communities.”

Over at the Mist Walk, visitors can step into Where the Wildflowers Grow, a nature-inspired installation by Singapore artist-designer collective Kester Wong and Tan Shao Qi. Crafted from reclaimed metal offcuts and recycled carpet, this garden of wildflowers comes alive with a gentle, rhythmic glow as it sways in response to touch.

At the Marina Bay Lower Boardwalk, Let’s Fish the Sun! by Wentao Wang (China) invites visitors to “reel in” the sun with a fishing rod, “reversing” sunset as the horizon transits from orange to a warm white glow. Presented by Marina Bay Sands, Cube Graphics by Cyril Lancelin (France) at the Event Plaza presents an immersive inflatable cube structure that shifts in geometric form as visitors venture into and around it, creating a sense of constant change.

The creative energy flow continues at the entrance of Marina Bay Link Mall, where Infinite Graffiti by Graffiti+ (Canada), in collaboration with Families for Life (FFL), invites visitors to unleash their creativity on a five-metre-long digital graffiti wall. Using sensor-activated spray 3 cans, visitors can co-create a vibrant, ever-evolving canvas together. In front of The Promontory, Silent Moments by creative collective BN label (Slovakia) celebrates everyday gestures and movements through larger-than-life illuminated silhouettes. Visitors can become part of the artwork that displays life’s simple moments as they sit and chat with their friends, take a stroll with their partners or families, or hold their little ones, creating lovely moments alongside the glowing figures.

Presented in partnership with Raffles Place Alliance, Arch Flower by Cyril Lancelin (France) takes root at Raffles Place Park with pink and green hues, delighting visitors day and night, and inviting them to wander beneath glowing arches where light and space converge.

Nurturing and supporting budding light artists

In line with the Festival’s commitment to nurture emerging talents in light, design, and technology, a new mentorship programme called i Light Future, presented by the DesignSingapore Council, debuts this year to cultivate local design talent in line with its Design 2035 Masterplan. Open to tertiary students and early-career creatives, the programme selects participants through an open call, who then receive mentorship from Lead Mentor and Founder of digital design studio A&C Atelier, Craig Neo, to guide them through concept development, technical design and installation. This year, two installations by three artists from the i Light Future programme will be showcased. At the Mist Walk, Tan Mei Yee and Ng Choon Wee (Singapore) debut Market Cycles, an architectural light installation that transforms everyday wet market plastic crates into a luminous sanctuary, revealing beauty in overlooked objects. Sponsored by Aedas along the Marina Boulevard waterfront, Steps by Nawal Bte Azhar (Singapore) reimagines staircases as a glowing monument that symbolises Singapore’s progress shaped by resilience and collective effort, encouraging visitors to see their own steps as part of the nation’s continuing story.

Bringing families and friends together through art, play, and shared experiences

Coinciding with the June school holidays, i Light Singapore 2026 offers the perfect backdrop for families and friends of all ages to come together and create their own moments.
