1. Heritage and Culture Light Up the City for Singapore’s 56th Birthday

Bras Basah.Bugis Precinct National Day Light-up The Bras Basah.Bugis precinct celebrates National Day in red and white lights, to rally Singaporeans to be united through culture.

Seven historically and culturally significant buildings in the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct will be lit in the colours of the National Flag to inspire and encourage Singaporeans, and to represent the nation’s shared values and achievements.

2. ACM Celebrates: National Day

National Day ACM Medley with Kenchana Jazz

Discover objects in an online trail that speak of connections to Singapore’s history and enjoy listening to a medley of well-loved National Day tunes. 3. National Day Celebrations with the National Museum

4. National Day Parade 2021 (Ceremonial Parade)

NDP Rehearsal 2021 F15 Bombburst

The National Day Parade (NDP) this year will be postponed to 21 August 2021 after the end of the latest Covid-19 restrictions. A ceremonial parade will be held on 9 August 2021 instead to mark Singapore’s 56th year since independence. It will be similar to the one held last year at the Padang, but will take place at the Marina Bay floating platform.

5. Read! Fest 2021’s literary trails

NLB’s first ever multi-sensorial literary trails offer a self-directed and interactive experience, perfect for families and small groups this August! Highly accessible, it features three starting points at West Coast Park, East Coast Park, and National Library Building. All three trails end on 31 October 2021.

8. Light Up Your Singapore Spirit this National Day at the Singapore Sports Hub

9. National Day Monumental Hunt (A mini digital game)

Our National Day Parades were typically held at the Padang since our first parade in 1966. The site continued to host the annual parades till 1975, after which the locations were rotated between decentralized sites, National Stadium, Marina Bay Floating Platform and the Padang. Since 1995, the parade has been held at the Padang every five years.

This mini game features a National Day Parade at the Padang with its surrounding monuments. Find all the items in this monumental hunt and stand to win attractive prizes!

10. NLB Future of Learning 2021

Held on 7,8 and 14 August 2021, NLB’s first ever edition of Future of Learning is an online event offering Singaporeans and residents in Singapore a series of online talks and workshops by an exciting line up of 14 local and international speakers like Sunni Brown and Kenny White.

Held in line with this year’s theme, ‘Staying Creative when Life Feels Monotonous’, the talks and workshops are organised by NLB to help Singaporeans adapt to the changes the pandemic has brought to any activity they engage in, whether it be working, studying or socialising – key activities in which people can learn while being engaged in. Attendees will learn about different types of learning and skills needed for them, and will learn to incorporate them into their lifelong learning journeys, becoming learners for life.

11. Capitol Singapore & CHIJMES celebrates National Day

From 6 to 9 August 2021, the Singapore spirit is set to come to life at the Centre with its lineup of National Day Activities. Lion city boys and girls will get to join Science educators on activities themed around our sunny island, including a gallery hunt filled with facts on Singapore and even a little creative design workshop.
