When three like-minded mothers with primary-school going children realised that they could not find what they were looking for in the different student care options on the market, they decided to put their own hands to the plough. As Kelly, Yaling and Regina invested copious amounts of time, effort and money into this massive labour of love, Melodious Cove was born.

Melodious Cove is barely a year old since its inception on the grounds of the rambling Turf City, but already, this home away from home has garnered positive reviews from its growing community of parents and children alike. It’s also within proximity to schools such as Nanyang Primary School, Bukit Timah Primary School, Raffles Girls’ Primary School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road).

Unlike most other student care centres, which can be limited in terms of space and people resources, the Melodious Cove centre is generous on open space, provides for an all-rounded and enjoyable student care experience, and is run by a team of dedicated and caring staff.

One of the priorities of the founding members was to provide for an “Under One Roof” experience for each child. Too many Singaporean parents are stressed and exhausted from searching for helpful enrichment classes for their kids and the hassle of ferrying them to and fro from appointments, then waiting around for them to be dismissed, not to mention often having to eat into precious weekend family times for such sessions.

Here at Melodious Cove, though, they seek to maximise the time that families can spend bonding on weekday evenings and weekends. You can find everything you are looking for provided within the content of your child’s regular weekday.

Each afternoon at the centre begins with a home-cooked lunch prepared by their in-house chef onsite, followed by a shower and power nap/rest time. Children can bring their bedlinen and special toys to the centre to make their bed as cosy and comfortable as home, and there are different siesta rooms for boys and girls to slumber in peace.

After a nap, there are passionate teachers available to guide your children through completing their homework, spelling and 听写, including assignments from Melodious Cove enrichment classes.

The founders recognise how important it is for children to be able to complete each day’s homework within their time at the centre so that they can truly enjoy family time during the evenings when they go back home. The children will also be given a healthy tea break – usually fruits – on most days.

Besides providing homework guidance, Melodious Cove also works with reputable tuition centres and educators to provide solid academic support through their Enrichment classes for English (Chapter One), Chinese (Hua Cheng Education Centre, Bukit Timah) and Maths (Concept Math Education Centre), in line with the MOE syllabus.

Once homework is done, the children can move on to other creative pursuits. There is an art and craft room for budding artists, a sweet little garden for nature lovers, and a cosy corner filled with books, board games and other brain-stimulating games.

Besides this, Melodious Cove also offers what they call a “Daily Dose of Fun Learning” – daily enrichment classes conducted by selected external vendors who will coach children invaluable life skills such as Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Public Speaking. Engaging lessons in Financial Literacy are also conducted in-house. These special programs are offered to all the children.

When we visited the centre, we observed the way the teachers motivated each child to focus on their work, as well as witnessed the obvious joy and ease of the students. It was heartwarming to see the children’s happy faces and to see how different ones have forged close bonds with each other and their teachers.

In terms of school fees, Melodious Cove is more affordable than other student care providers in the market (as seen in the table below). In addition, children get the added bonus of being able to attend all enrichment sessions under one roof without the hassle and costs of travelling – parents are really getting their money’s worth in this very affordable and all-inclusive package.
