Enjoy family time at the National Museum of Singapore every last Saturday of the month! Our fun line-up of activities includes interactive tours, storytelling sessions, family workshops, drop-in craft activities, captivating performances, and more.
This June, you don’t have to get on a plane to experience other cultures! Let our grandmother storyteller Jessie Goh take you to various ASEAN countries through fascinating folktales, and visit our drop-in craft station after to create finger puppets of the story characters. You can also explore Singapore’s landscapes with our Young Cinema screening of locally-produced animated short films. Bon voyage!
Family Fun Saturday
7+ Drop-in Family Fun – Folktales on my Fingers
Time: 10.30am to 4.30pm
Venue: Glass Atrium, Level 2
Admission Fees: Free
Drop by our Glass Atrium and create finger puppets of characters from popular Southeast Asian folktales. Some of the stories are riddles – to satisfy your curiosity, ask our friendly facilitators or join our friendly grandmother Jessie Goh for a fun storytelling session. Plus, you can also create your own imaginative stories with your new puppets at home!
No registration required. While stocks last. Last admission at 4pm.
7+ National Museum Building Tour for Families
Time: 11am (45 min)
Venue: Rotunda, Level 1
Admission Fees : Free

Join us on a learning journey around the museum and discover more interesting gems about this 130-year-old building.
Limited to 15 pairs of parent and child, on a first come, first served basis. On-site registration starts from 10.30am at the Rotunda, Level 1.
7+ Gran’s Short Stories
Time: 2.30pm & 3.30pm (30 min per session)
Venue: Singapore History Gallery, Level 1
Admission Fees: Free

Come and listen to Grandma Jessie tell exciting popular folktales from Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand and the Philippines, such as that of Badang the Strongman, who performed an amazing feat with a huge rock – which you can view at the end of the storytelling session! Some of the stories are riddles that challenge your children to think of possible answers, and who knows, they might be right!
Each session is limited to 15 children aged 7 to 12 years old, on a first come, first served basis. On-site registration starts from 1.45pm outside Singapore History Gallery, Level 1.
About the Storyteller
Jessie Goh, a Professional and Founding Member of the Storytelling Association (Singapore), was awarded Gold Medal (with Honours) from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in the
Speaking of Verse and Prose. With forty years’ experience in education, Jessie is drawn to children and uses her love for music and drama to enhance her interactive stories that allow them to join in the fun.
