When the sun sets over Fort Canning, the hill tells a different story. Festival at the Fort 2026 transforms the park after dark with immersive light and projection installations that awaken its layered past, a place where royal courts once stood, empires clashed, and Singapore’s identity began to take shape.

This year, the festival opens its doors wider than ever, with an expanded lineup of hands on workshops alongside our signature drop in craft and heritage activities. Take on The Heir of the Forbidden Hill, an interactive quest that puts you in the sandals of a royal heir on the day a kingdom’s fate hangs in the balance. Carve your own piece of the park’s story at a heritage relief printing workshop, or stroll the Spice Garden before brewing your own tropical drink from its plants. Then wander the illuminated grounds and let the rest of the stories find you.

Festival at the Fort is a celebration of place, memory, and discovery, staged beneath the canopy of one of Singapore’s most storied hills.

Clay, Kings & Kilns: A Ceramic-Making Experience
22 August, Saturday | 7.00pm – 9.30pm

Beneath Fort Canning Hill lies a story told in fragments – ancient ceramics unearthed from the earth, bearing witness to a royal past. Once known as Bukit Larangan, the Forbidden Hill, this storied ground was home to the kings of ancient Singapore. Now, it is your turn to shape history.

In this hands-on workshop, craft your own ceramic piece and leave your mark with the kala head motif – a design drawn from a real artefact discovered on the hill. Guided by skilled instructors, you will work with clay just as craftsmen did centuries ago, connecting your hands to a tradition that has endured through the ages.

Come mould, mark, and make your own piece of Fort Canning’s living heritage

Please note that finished pieces will be ready for collection approximately five weeks after the workshop. Participants will be contacted at the email address provided during registration once their piece is ready for self-collection from a studio at Jalan Bahar.

In a hands-on drinks-making session, you will learn how to transform these garden-fresh plants into refreshing tropical brews to savour and enjoy.

Echoes of the Forbidden Hill: A Bilingual Amazing Race Experience

Echoes of the Forbidden Hill by Cinewav is a bilingual, location-based Amazing Race experience that invites youths to explore the many layers of history hidden across one of Singapore’s most significant landmarks.

Long before it became the park we know today, Fort Canning Hill witnessed the rise and fall of kingdoms. Once known as Bukit Larangan, or the Forbidden Hill, it was associated with the rulers of 14th-century Singapura. The surrounding area was also a thriving centre of trade, leaving behind thousands of artefacts that would be unearthed centuries later.

Available through English and Malay, Mandarin or Tamil, the experience shows how our languages can work together to help us understand history, solve problems and make connections.

Tessellations in Culture: A Heritage Relief-Printing Workshop

Every pattern tells a story. At Fort Canning Park, some of those stories are over 700 years old.

In this hands-on workshop, learn the art of relief printing and bring Fort Canning’s rich heritage to life through your own hands. Draw inspiration from the park’s most iconic motifs – including the enigmatic kala head, drawn from a 14th century archaeological artefact, and the storied 9-pound cannon that stands in the park today.

Using traditional relief-printing techniques, carve, ink and press these timeless designs onto paper, creating a piece that is uniquely yours – and unmistakably Fort Canning.

The Heir: An Interactive Quest

Six hundred years ago, this hill was forbidden to everyone but royalty. Today, it’s yours to climb.

Step into the sandals of the Maharaja’s son on the one morning that changes everything. Wake in the palace on Bukit Larangan. Bathe in the royal spring. Take up the kris passed down through your bloodline.

Then climb higher – past the harbour reports, the trade ships, the warning drums – to a hilltop under siege, where the fate of a kingdom rests on the wisdom of its alliances.

Along the way, solve the puzzles that unlock each chapter of the story: crack a royal cipher, chart a sea route, and race the clock as the Siamese fleet closes in.

Inspired by 14th-century accounts of ancient Temasek, The Heir turns a walk up Fort Canning into a story of courage, courtly duty, and the strategy that let a small kingdom endure.

A whole day of making, crafting and creating awaits at The Spice Atelier.

Set within the beautiful Fort Canning Centre atrium, this all-day craft haven invites you to slow down and get your hands busy across four delightful DIY stations. Paint the blooms of the Spice Garden, blend your own fragrant spice pouch, weave nature into a beautiful mandala, and reconstruct a piece of history – all under one roof.

Whether you are looking for a peaceful solo activity or a fun experience to share with family and friends, there is something here for every kind of maker.

Fort Canning Heritage Gallery

The Fort Canning Heritage Gallery traces more than 700 years of history, providing park visitors with an informative and in-depth overview of the rich heritage of Fort Canning Hill. Each of the gallery’s five zones is themed according to a particular aspect or role that the historic Fort Canning Hill played in the broader history of Singapore. The gallery features archaeological artefacts excavated from sites within Fort Canning Park, as well as multiple digital interactive stations.
