One of the most recognisable species of grass in Singapore and Southeast Asia is Lalang. Its growth form is shaped like a spear but bends and sways softly along with the wind. Lalang is also known as lovegrass, as one of its known methods of propagation is where its flowers attach itself to jeans or socks as a person trundles through its cluster.
Lovegrass is also a spontaneous urban weed that grows within the cracks of pavements. It is commonplace and noticeable by its small cloud-like appearance. These 80 stalks planted at site, are accompanied by a soundscape that builds and reaches a crest, telling a story about attachment and boundless affection.
