Capitol Chijmes Singapore Night Festival

This August, the popular Singapore Night Festival (SNF) returns, and Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES present a distinctive line-up of programmes that bring this year’s theme to life through their unique heritage spaces.

Inspired by the festival’s theme, “Myths & Legends”, CHIJMES and Capitol Singapore bring storytelling to life through a unique, curated line-up of exciting exhibitions and activities from 21 August to 5 September.

At CHIJMES, the spotlight is on awe-inspiring visual storytelling as the historic hall becomes the setting for Singapore’s first and largest indoor projection mapping experience, complemented by a series of exterior facade projections that bring the building’s famed architecture to life after dark. These showcases are paired with a series of high-energy activations that include a Night Run Experience from adidas, and a Neon Glow Art Jamming Workshop on selected nights with drinks by Cellarbration.

Over at Capitol Singapore, the focus shifts to a more tactile, community-focused experience. The Outdoor Plaza will be transformed into a buzzing creative enclave anchored by a night market featuring booths that offer live caricature portraits, henna tattoos, and handmade crafts. Local artist Natalia Tan will also showcase a large-scale community tapestry crafted from recycled materials, which members of the public are encouraged to add on to – building a living, collective artwork over the course of the festival.

CHIJMES transforms into a captivating stage where heritage, technology and storytelling converge. Building on its reputation as one of the festival’s most iconic projection mapping destinations, this year’s programme weaves in the rich traditions and evolving narratives of Southeast Asia.

Textures through Time

Daily, 7pm – 11:30pm | CHIJMES Hall (exterior facade) & Main Lawn

The returning festival favourite project mapping on the exterior facade of CHIJMES Hall is elevated this year through the infusion of deep cultural resonance. Titled Textures through Time, this masterpiece shifts the focus from a purely visual spectacle to a powerful cultural narrative that ties directly into the festival’s theme.

CHIJMES Hall serves as the canvas for a visual journey tracing the journey of a building’s past. Transforming across different eras of local history, the CHIJMES facade breathes through the material languages of the land it stands on: The woven earth of ancient kampongs, the limestone and marble of a colonial city, the half-tone print of the post-war era, the flickering CRT of boom-time progress, the glitching pixel grid of modern creative technology and finally, the slow bioluminescent pulse of what might come next, built upon the foundations and stories that came before.
