This Mid-Autumn, there’s more to do than look at the Moon. From 19 to 27 September, Celestial Nights invites guests to follow a free illuminated trail between Science Centre Singapore and Japanese Garden, look through telescopes at the night sky and discover the stories and science behind our closest celestial neighbour.
With free experiences and ticketed programmes starting from $4, guests can make a night of it whether they come for the astronomy, the atmosphere or simply a different way to spend Mid-Autumn. On 26 September, MOONBEATS: AFTERDARK changes the tempo. Guests can enjoy a one-night-only silent disco experience featuring three DJ channels, an after-hours dance floor and access to Science Centre Singapore after dark. Tickets are available from $25 and include an artisanal botanical non-alcoholic cocktail by Singapore wellness brand Luli, created exclusively for the night. Traditional Chinese Medicine herbs and recipes are rebuilt cold into a contemporary serve, worth $15.

Part of the Sundown Science series and held in conjunction with NParks’ Lights by the Lake, Celestial Nights takes a familiar Mid-Autumn tradition and asks a simple question: what else might you discover when you look a little further?
Follow the stars from Science Centre to Japanese Garden
From 19 to 27 September, the Celestial Trail offers an illuminated night trail connecting the Centre and Japanese Garden.

Guests can start the trail at Metamorphosis or the Water Lily Pavilion in Japanese Garden and follow illuminated deep-space displays mapped across the solar system, discovering some of the strange and beautiful moons orbiting other worlds along the way. Those who complete the trail activities can also unlock a discount on a limited-edition Quby pin. First introduced as Science Centre’s new companion for discovery at SG Science Fest earlier this year, the lovable sticker character Quby continues its journey with guests at Celestial Nights.
The Celestial Trail is free for all ages.
Eyes up: the real show is overhead

On 25 and 26 September, guests can enjoy stargazing and Moon viewing at Science Centre’s Observatory and the Water Lily Pavilion at Japanese Garden. Guests can enjoy free stargazing and Moon viewing across both evenings, with viewing sessions taking place at Science Centre Singapore and Japanese Garden.
Viewing sessions run every 15 minutes from 7.45pm to 10pm, subject to weather conditions.
From Moon legends to modern missions
Long before humans sent spacecraft to the Moon, we were already looking up and imagining stories about what we saw.

At the Omni-Theatre, the approximately 20-minute live digital planetarium experience Moon Legends: From Myth to Mission traces the shapes and craters behind the familiar tales of Chang’e, Hou Yi and the Jade Rabbit, before turning to modern lunar exploration and what the Artemis missions are looking for on that same surface today.
A $4 ticket includes the Live Digital Planetarium Show and viewing through the main Observatory’s 16-inch telescope, subject to availability and weather conditions.
Guests can also make an evening of Celestial Nights with outdoor F&B pop-ups and complimentary White Rabbit ice cream, while stocks last. On 25 September from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, musician Chalmers Wong will perform live acoustic sets in the courtyard.
A Full Moon Party, Science Centre style

On 26 September, the Full Moon Party gets a Science Centre twist as MOONBEATS: AFTERDARK, including the first silent disco makes its way through some of the Centre’s main galleries.
The evening begins with a Silent Disco Parade from the Centre to Japanese Garden before guests return indoors from 8pm, as Hall A transforms into an after-hours playground with three DJ channels, a dance floor and familiar Science Centre experiences taking on a different energy after dark.
With the lights turned down and the music turned up, it is a side of Science Centre Singapore most guests do not usually get to see.
MOONBEATS: AFTERDARK is presented by Sundown Science and co-created with Wild Pearl Studio, Silent Disco Asia, Umami FX and Mischief Makers. With Early Bird tickets sold out, limited MOONBEATS: AFTERDARK tickets are now available at $25 per person or $40 for the Sonic Soulmates pair bundle. Each ticket includes a specially handcrafted TCM-inspired botanical drink by Luli worth $15 and access to Celestial Nights on 26 September.
