2. Celebrating Wildlife Series: Amazing Rainforests of Singapore (A Biodiversity Workshop)

Did you know that the Singapore Botanic Gardens is home to both a primary and a secondary rainforest? Discover more about Singapore’s amazing rainforests and the unique biodiversity which they harbour. Children will have the opportunity to conduct an exciting hands-on study of specimens and come along on a guided walk to observe giant rainforest trees and spot the animals which inhabit them. Join us and learn about the crucial role of rainforest ecosystems as well as the importance of conserving them.

4. Tales from the Nusantara: The Princess of Lasem and the Masked Dancer (A Collaboration with Malay Heritage Centre) [New]

Immerse yourself in a magical storytelling adventure around the Malay Archipelago with Raden Gunung Sari and his brother, Raden Asmara Agung, as they set out across the Nusantara in search of their missing sister. Their journey takes a thrilling turn in the Kingdom of Lasem, where a wayang performance and a clash with the King and Prince of Tumasik lead to an epic victory and a happily-ever-after.

Experience this exciting tale with storyteller Hafiz Rashid and dancer Md Al-Hafiz Hosni, who will bring the story to life with a dazzling Tari Topeng (a traditional dance form that uses masks) performance! Learn fun facts about the traditional masks, try out the dance moves yourself, and enjoy a special tour of the Centre for Ethnobotany.

This programme is conducted in English and organised in collaboration with the Malay Heritage Centre.

5. Plants and their Superpowers: Banana Bananza (A Show-and-Tell Session) [New]

Learn about the many different uses of plants! Children will have the opportunity to get up close with one of our favourite tropical fruits, the banana! Discover how parts of the plant can be tied, twisted and stamped and learn about how it is more than just a delicious fruit to eat.

6. Storytelling: The Magic Bojabi Tree [New]

There is a drought and the animals are so so hungry! They see a beautiful tree covered in red, ripe fruit but when they approach it, Python has wrapped himself around and won’t let them near unless they can tell him the correct name of the tree. Will the animals ever get to eat the fruit? Join us for a fun-filled session to find out what happens in this interactive story by Dianne Hofmeyr.
