Public’s Contribution Helped Raise $10,000 Donation of Confinement Meals for Unsupported Pregnant Mothers
“If it takes a village to raise a child, it (also) takes a village to support that child’s parent.” – Ann Douglas.
Some mothers are fortunate enough to receive support and help from families and friends around whereas some others, not as lucky.
As an effort to lessen the load of mothers and families with unsupported pregnancies, Tian Wei Signature, a local confinement meal delivery service, in collaboration with Safe Place set out to organise a chain of online events to raise funds for them.
Safe Place is a local organisation built to empower expectant mothers in need by providing personal counselling, guidance on critical life skills, temporary accommodation and referral to other support partners.
The campaign garnered heartwarming attention and impressive support from over 168 members of the public, including 23 local social media content creators and personalities who come together to spread the news and support the good cause.
Taking place 100% virtually, the whole campaign helped raise a total donation of $10,000, with the public’s sharing of the campaign post across social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook being counted as a form of donation too. Every share counts as $5, donated by Tian Wei Signature.
100% of the total donation raised for this campaign will be converted into confinement meals by Tian Wei Signature for the mothers supported by Safe Place. The meals provided are crucial for postnatal recovery, ranging from fusion and traditional dishes, and created to also help with breast milk production.
“Meals are one of the most important aspects that contribute to a mother’s postnatal recovery, so we believe that providing everyday confinement meals is the best way we could help them.
At the same time, we want to make sure that these mothers are getting enjoyable and interesting (fusion and traditional) dishes just like other clients who book our services,” shared Tian Wei Signature representative.
One of the online events of the campaign was an Instagram Live broadcast; ‘The Journey of Practising Self-Care & Finding Support’ with 4 speakers and 1 host in total, where birth and motherhood stories and experiences were exchanged and shared with the viewers.
The Director of Safe Place, Jennifer Heng, joined the broadcast to share about the kind of help that single mothers need and encourage the community to also provide support in any way they can. To date, the organisation has helped more than 200 unsupported mothers Tian Wei Signature’s In-House Dietitian, Eunice Tan, was another one of the speakers whom the viewers actively asked for information. Eunice shared various useful tips and advice on nutrition for pregnant and postpartum mothers.
In support of the Live Broadcast and the cause of the campaign, some local partners are also joining hands to sponsor several useful prizes for lucky mothers who are also part of the viewers.
“Mothers are key to our community’s growth. Where there’s a way to help, we believe it is our job to do so,” ended Tian Wei Signature representative.
