FROM A LIGHT SHOW INSPIRED BY FIREFLIES TO SUPERTREES MADE OF ORCHIDS, IT’S AN EXCITING AUGUST AT GARDENS BY THE BAY THIS SG60
A line-up of four events celebrates Singapore’s 60th birthday, including the brand-new SPARK making its Southeast Asian debut, and the return of Orchid Extravaganza that pays tribute to all things Singaporean

SPARK, a mesmerising biodegradable light installation which will play for free across four nights, is a sight to behold at the Supertree Grove’s Lawn. Over in Flower Dome, three Supertrees composed of orchids, surrounded by other very Singaporean elements, inspire patriotic pride in the return of the ever-popular Orchid Extravaganza. The annual Gardens by the Bay and MediaCorp National Day Concert brings out the theme of Ties that Bloom with top celebrity performances. The National Day Parade‘s Bay Celebrations unfurls across the Marina Bay area, with Gardens by the Bay as a participating site.
These events are all part of Gardens by the Bay’s milestone celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence, promising something for one and all.
Gardens by the Bay CEO Mr Felix Loh said, “Without the support of fellow Singaporeans, we would not have succeeded in creating a national icon visited by the world. Let’s come together to celebrate how far we have come as a nation by joining Gardens by the Bay’s exciting line-up of August events in this memorable SG60 year.”

After enchanting audiences across the world in a diversity of cities such as London, Bilbao, Tokyo, Melbourne, Riyadh and Auckland, SPARK makes its Southeast Asian debut at Gardens by the Bay – transforming the Lawn at Supertree Grove into a mesmerising spectacle for four nights.
This immersive light installation by internationally renowned Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde is a reimagination of fireworks. Inspired by both fireflies and the stars in the sky, the free show features thousands of silent, floating biodegradable light sparks – a call for all to come together to celebrate in new ways during the milestone SG60 year.
SPARK is jointly organised by Gardens by the Bay and H&B, with art partner IMBA, and in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore. It is a celebration of 60 years of strong bilateral ties between the Netherlands and Singapore, on the occasion of SG60. SPARK is supported by GIC.

This edition of the Orchid Extravaganza floral display in Flower Dome pays tribute to the nation’s heritage through creative orchid interpretations of iconic local symbols.
A horticultural love letter to a very Singaporean bloom, the highlights include an orchid interpretation of the Supertrees, which has now become synonymous with Singapore’s skyline, a floral tribute to Peranakan culture, recreations of Cultural Medallion recipient Lee Hock Moh’s iconic orchid paintings, and a nod to the orchid’s enduring presence throughout Singapore’s history.
