Get crafty with creative workshops by PLAY!

Get creative this Lunar New Year at Raffles Place Park with a special festive workshop! Happening from 12pm – 2pm on 5 and 6 February, the Park will welcome a special Tree of Fortune adorned with beautiful handmade origami red packets, as well as various symbolic animals.

Draw inspiration from these enchanting displays, or unleash your creativity as you craft your own festive crafts: from origami snakes and red packets to intricate origami fish, there is no limit to what you can create. Organised by homegrown art collective PLAY!, visitors to the Park are invited to make their mark by decorating the Tree of Fortune.

You can fold and assemble your red packets on the spot, or if you are pressed for time, you can choose a pre-made piece to decorate the tree. Magnetic strips are also provided if you wish to display your artwork at home or on your refrigerator door, or to hold your personal well-wishes for the new year.

Marvel at festive decor that beautifully blends tradition with modernity

While you’re at Raffles Place Park, marvel at the beautifully designed arches adorned with vibrant holographic ornaments and butterfly motifs. In Chinese culture, butterflies symbolise transformation, beauty and hope, which is auspicious and perfect to welcome the new year.

The arches shimmer under the daylight and light up at night, thus creating a picturesque pathway leading through Raffles Place Park.

Of course, the Lunar New Year is not complete without auspicious greetings! A striking centrepiece that stands in Raffles Place Park, features a display of the Chinese character “福”, also known as fortune. The display is adorned with mesmerising and vibrant pink and red flowers, symbolising celebration, good luck and happiness for the new year.

For more unique picture spots with your family, friends, or colleagues, head over to the gift box that is located in the middle of Raffles Place Park. This holographic gift box has a centrepiece with the Chinese character “福” as well, making the gift box look like a stunning Lunar New Year Hamper.

While walking through the precinct to admire the beautiful light installations, don’t forget to stop at each installation and scan the QR codes located in front of all the installations to complete a digital map of the Raffles Place festive decor.
