Spend the weekend at the Peranakan Museum and discover an “Emerald Tale” presented by the Peranakan Association Singapore through lively performances, engaging talks on Peranakan jewellery and architecture, drop-in craft activities, cooking demonstrations, and community-led tours.

Step into early Singapore with author and speaker Shawn Seah, as he brings Our Amazing Pioneers, a non-fiction children’s book series to life through a book reading on the inspiring stories of prominent Peranakans like Seah Liang Seah, the co-founder of the Straits Chinese British Association and Ngeow Cher Seong, the first-generation jeweller in Singapore.

Delve into the painstaking restoration of a historic terraced townhouse on Emerald Hill with awardwinning architectural conservation specialist Ho Weng Hin.

The talk will explore how highly skilled restoration artisans used in-depth research and diagnosis to preserve the building’s rare architectural details – artificial marble tiles, cast iron railings, and timber lattice partitions – which had been worn down by a century of habitation.
