This event is part of Singapore’s first-ever child passenger safety campaign encouraging parents with children aged 0-10 to secure their children in child car restraints all the time. The campaign, The Safe Seat, is the brainchild of four undergraduates from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) after they realized that parents are not using child car restraints all the time. In a survey conducted with 513 parents, the NTU team found that while 78.4% of parents own child car restraints, only 55% use them all the time.

To encourage the use of child car restraints all the time, the team embarked on various online and on-ground activations to increase awareness and debunk misconceptions about child car restraints. To date, the team has held six roving booths island wide in malls and libraries to engage with parents on the ground.

Check out The Safe Seat’s Facebook page for educational content from doctors, experts and even celebrity Kate Pang. If you are struggling to get your child comfortable in the child car restraint, fret not, you are definitely not alone! Learn from fellow parents as they dish out their tried-and-tested tips that you can use with your kids.

The Safe Seat is supported by AA Singapore, KKH, Taxi Baby Co. and Car Club. More details about the event can be found on The Safe Seat’s Facebook page.

Survey conducted online by Nanyang Technological University students in November 2018, among 513 parents with children aged 0–10. Respondents were recruited via convenience and snowball sampling.
