Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the academy transformed its campus into a vibrant carnival, creating an enchanting cultural hub in the city’s heart. Over 800 guests, including the esteemed Minister for Defence, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, gathered to commemorate a decade of dedication to the Chinese heritage and language.

Showcase of Traditional Arts

The cultural performances began earnestly as the day progressed into the evening, with the outdoor stage spotlighting the rich array of traditional Chinese arts. Enthusiastic audiences were captivated by performances from students and professionals alike, which included everything from Hokkien puppet shows and poem recitations to dynamic Wushu displays and Chinese dances, all demonstrating the academy’s dedication to nurturing and preserving Chinese cultural heritage.

The academy was adorned with over 400 exquisitely crafted lanterns, each thoughtfully created by its talented students, representing the commitment to cultural preservation that the academy nurtures.

Honoring Commitment and Heritage

The evening’s program included speeches from dignitaries, including a reflective address by Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence. Dr. Ng reminisced about the academy’s origins and its decade-long journey, emphasizing its critical role in the cultural and educational landscape of Singapore. The event also recognized the dedicated service of its long-standing employees, celebrating their contributions with long service and special honorary awards.

Culminating in Gratitude and Celebration

The 10th anniversary celebrations reached their zenith with a grand dinner at the academy’s multi-purpose hall, where guests enjoyed not only a delicious meal but also continued performances, including a special anniversary video that highlighted significant milestones. The “Reverie of the Lions” dance by the Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre was a highlight, capturing the essence of cultural pride and aspiration.
