Families can look forward to a Stitch-themed outdoor festival, featuring large-scale installations, play areas and more activities inspired by Stitch, whose live-action reimagining of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch opens in cinemas on 22 May. An experience for the whole family, Children’s Festival hopes for children to discover friendship and family, while learning to embrace and accept themselves for who they are.

A close to 7m-tall slide, The Great ‘Ohana Wave, challenges young adventurers and boosts their confidence as they “surf” its exhilarating height. In the Forest of Belonging, they navigate an inflatable forest to uncover hidden messages. And in a nod to Stitch’s extraterrestrial origins, they can embark on a Space Adventure, where they race swing cars to power up light beams and complete their mission. The beachside fun of the story is brought to life with Stitch’s Mischief Makers, where children can nurture creativity and sensory awareness through tactile play with kinetic sand.

Limited-edition merchandise featuring exclusive designs of Stitch at Gardens by the Bay

Decked out with a Disney’s Lilo & Stitch-inspired tropical vibe, the retail pop-up will also feature a wide range of Stitch and Disney-themed merchandise such as apparel, plush toys, figurines, and more.

Complementary fringe performances, workshops, and carnival games

In between playtime, children can acquire fun knowledge about plants in Plants on the Move! sessions conducted by Gardens by the Bay’s Hawaii-born plant researcher on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 14. Inspired by the Pacific setting of Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, this 35-minute session combines storytelling with a real plant showcase to educate children on plants that people carried as they settled on the islands of Southeast Asia to the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Through interactive activities, children will learn why plants like coconut, taro, candlenut, breadfruit, and calabash gourd were valued not just as food, but for their many practical uses, especially during long voyages. Sessions are free and slots are on a first come, first served basis.

Every weekend, festival goers can also look forward to The Great Island Series, a lively two-hour stage performance by Cake Theatre, jampacked with dance, games, and playful antics.

In addition, there are craft workshops for children to create their own lei or flower garland, astronomy-themed sand art, space-themed lanterns and more, as well as carnival games. Separate charges apply for these activities.

Children’s Festival featuring Lilo & Stitch has no admission charge, and most activities are free.
