Lunar New Year At Gardens By The Bay 2020

Usher in the Year of Metal Rat with a variety of festive programmes and activities this Lunar New Year. Watch The Story of Nian unfold through music, puppetry, and drama, and don’t miss out the spark-tacular Golden Pyro Dragon Dance making its first appearance in Singapore. Visitors can also look forward to thrilling acrobatic stunts by a lion dance troupe, music performances by local ensembles, shadow puppet shows telling the story of the Chinese zodiac, meet-and-greet sessions with the God of Fortune, and a festive bazaar!

GOLDEN PYRO DRAGON DANCE

Golden Pyro Dragon Dance Gardens by the Bay

Usher in the year of the Metal Rat and be the first in Singapore to catch the sparktacular Golden Pyro Dragon Dance under a shower of firework-like sparkles achieved through the use of special metal granules to create these pyrotechnic displays!

THE STORY OF NIAN

The Story of Nian comes to life with the use of puppetry, music and of course, drama.

A village finds itself under threat from a terrifying monster, the Nian, who descends upon them from the mountain every year. Little do they know that it is actually the discord and squabbling amongst them that draws the monster to the village every year. A wise old man holds the key to repelling the Nian, but will the villagers be able to put their differences aside long enough, in order to unite and fight off the beast together?

COLOURS OF SPRING

Did you know that rats are believed to be thrifty and they hold dear to things that they cherish? Some even say they have good financial luck, so stroll along a vibrant display of colourful rat lanterns with their abundance of treasures.

The display is put up in collaboration with REACH Community Services.

LION DANCE

The Rat zodiac symbolizes strong vitality in the chinese culture and displays both agility and alertness. Usher in the Lunar New Year with thrilling lion dance performances by an award-winning local lion dance troupe! Try not to hold your breath as the lion leaps from pole to pole and performs difficult stunts.
