Return for the Lantern Design Competition and Mass Lantern Walk, and look forward to something new this year: Lantern Riddles in all four of Singapore’s official languages, and a heartwarming new segment, “Light a Lantern, Share Your Blessing”, where the community comes together through light and good wishes.

Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Painting Competition

From 11 September to 4 October, visit booths at Kreta Ayer Community Club and various grassroots events to write your personal well-wishes on lanterns.

The main celebration takes place on 19 September at 6pm at Kreta Ayer Square, featuring a Community Lantern Procession, a mooncake and tea appreciation session, and lantern riddles in Singapore’s four official languages. Can’t make it to the main event? Smaller celebrations will also be held at River Place, Havelock View, and Chin Swee-Hong Lim.

Discover the rich traditions behind one of the most cherished Chinese festivals, while enjoying an afternoon filled with music, performances, traditional crafts and interactive activities.

Jointly organized by Chinatown Singapore, Singapore Poon Yue Association and Kong Chow Wui Koon.

Discover the Celebration of Traditional Arts and Performances. The festival will open with an energetic lion dance and Wushu performance by Kong Chow Wui Koon. This is followed by a lantern-making talk, relating to the stories and traditions behind the Mid-Autumn Festival. The programme follows with lively ukulele performances and community singing.

Enjoy a fun-filled experience with exciting games and activities for the whole community! Take part in “Make a Guess” and test your knowledge with the “Where Am I?” Heritage Game, with opportunities to win exciting prizes along the way. Visitors can also get creative and explore traditional arts and crafts presented by the Singapore Poon Yue Association, including paper cutting, handmade crafts, calligraphy, and fan dyeing.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn, create, and discover traditional heritage in a fun and interactive way. For more information visit here

Chinatown Mid-Autumn Lantern Competition

Children and families can immerse themselves in hands-on cultural activities throughout the day. The “Lantern Painting Competition” invites young international visitors and Singaporeans (aged 7 to 12 years) to let their creativity shine by decorating the provided lanterns. Participants need to register online at www.chinatown.sg before 9 September 2026.

Participants to create an original artwork inspired by Singapore’s Chinatown and its Mid-Autumn festivities across these streets:
– Sago Street
– Pagoda Street
– Smith Street
– Trengganu Street

Registration will close on 9 Sep 2026 (Wednesday) or earlier once all 150 slots are filled.
