Did you know that Singapore is home to more than 400 species of marine fish? Did you know that it also houses 250 species of hard corals, which is almost one-third of the diversity found in the world? Join us at the Festival to explore and learn more about Singapore’s rich biodiversity!
The Festival of Biodiversity is an annual event which aims to create awareness and foster a sense of appreciation for our natural heritage.
Initiated in 2012, the Festival of Biodiversity is organised by the National Parks Board in collaboration with the Biodiversity Roundtable. The Biodiversity Roundtable is an initiative which includes Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) involved in local biodiversity issues, and NParks.
The biggest biodiversity festival in Singapore is back! The 2025 Festival of Biodiversity (FoB) will take place at the National Library on 31 May and 1 June, with an even more exciting and informative experience. Building on the success of 2024’s FoB, which welcomed over 16,000 visitors, NParks, together with other biodiversity-related interest groups and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) is committed to making this year’s festival bigger and better. Expect more community involvement, engaging activities for all ages, and new collaborations with the National Library Board to curate special collections on nature and biodiversity.
This year’s International Day for Biodiversity (IDB), which is observed on 22 May 2025 each year, follows the theme “Harmony with nature and sustainable development”. It aims to raise public awareness of biodiversity’s vital role in sustaining all life on earth and highlights the urgent need to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. These efforts are crucial for achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Goals and Targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), aligning closely with FoB’s mission to promote knowledge of Singapore’s biodiversity and foster a society where people and nature coexist in harmony.
