SINGAPORE’S ONLY VESAK FESTIVAL WITH A 16-FOOT BODHGAYA STUPA REPLICA, RARE GIANT THANGKA AND ANIMAL BLESSINGS
Thekchen Choling’s 3-day open-air festival invites all to experience the spirit of Vesak in new, meaningful ways.
This Vesak weekend, step into light, love and joy with family and friends, pets and the community at Our Joyous Vesak 2025 by Thekchen Choling. The three-day vibrant Vesak celebration will take place from 10 to 12 May 2025 at the Open Field next to NEX Mall (Serangoon MRT, Exit F), and it blends sacred rituals with joyful festivities in a way that’s truly for everyone.
“Vesak is a celebration of awakening – and joy, love, and compassion are universal values we all share. As such, we welcome everyone to experience the light of Vesak with us in a space where all are welcome and included,” said Vincent Kessler, Chairman of Thekchen Choling’s Vesak Day Committee.
Event Highlights Across the 3 Days Include:
Unveiling of the Giant Wish-Fulfilling Thangka: Witness a breathtaking art piece rarely seen in Singapore. In Himalayan Buddhist tradition, thangkas are sacred paintings that inspire deep meditation, blessings and reflection.
Bodhgaya Stupa Experience: Circumambulate a 16-foot-tall replica of the sacred UNESCO monument at the place where Shakyamuni Buddha attained enlightenment.
Grand Vairocana Puja for Our Nation: Held across three sessions on the first day, this powerful prayer invokes blessings for Singapore’s 60th birthday and peace for all beings. Listen to sacred prayers and feel the energy of compassion and healing.
Wisdom Mind Illumination Walk: This beautiful night-time procession combines light, prayer, and purpose. LED candles and sacred texts are carried together, symbolising the light of wisdom, hope, and the continuity of Buddha’s teachings.
Animal Blessings & Pet’s Day Out: As Shakyamuni Buddha teaches us to love all beings, animals are cherished, too. Bring your pets to receive loving blessings from Venerable Sanghas. Discover the Love Our Animals Bazaar, chat with animal welfare groups, and let your dogs play freely at the dedicated dog run area called Pawlympics Playground.
Happy Vibes Zone: Enjoy carnival games, rides, delicious food, and Instagrammable spots. It’s perfect for families, friends, and curious wanderers looking for something fun to do.
Festive Activities & Blessings: Enjoy children and youth activities, water purification rituals, and heartfelt blessings from prayers by Venerable Sanghas.
