Academia’s Winter Holiday Programmes are a curated series of English writing workshops for Primary 1 to Primary 6 students, designed to strengthen composition writing through focused, small-group instruction during the year-end break.
Each programme is built around the writing skills students need at different stages of Primary school. Through guided planning, close teacher feedback and structured practice, students learn to develop stronger ideas, organise their writing more effectively and express themselves with greater clarity and confidence.
For Primary 1 and 2 students, WRITING 003: A Storyteller’s Journey introduces the foundations of story-writing, including characters, setting, plot, conflict and resolution. Students learn how to shape a complete narrative while developing stronger habits in planning, vocabulary and expression.
For Primary 3 and 4 students, WRITING 110: Everyday Heroes focuses on characterisation and emotional expression. Through sensory-based activities and guided writing, students explore how strong characters are created and how thoughts, feelings and actions can be translated into writing that feels vivid and believable.
For Primary 5 and 6 students, Academia offers two upper-primary workshops. WRITING 203: A Writer’s Tools develops narrative structure and descriptive technique, helping students work on introductions, suspense, climaxes, dialogue, vocabulary, emotion and action. WRITING 204: Family and Friendships focuses on familiar PSLE-style themes, guiding students to develop believable relationships, emotional progression and more satisfying story endings.
Across the programmes, the emphasis is not simply on producing more writing, but on helping students understand how effective writing works. Each workshop combines technical instruction with opportunities to plan, draft, refine and receive detailed feedback.
Programmes are available in 2-day and 3-day formats, with sessions held at Academia’s Upper Thomson and Coronation Plaza centres in November and December 2026.
For older students, Academia also offers preparatory programmes during this period. ADM301 supports Primary 6 students preparing for Secondary 1 through an introduction to secondary-level English, Language Arts and Literature, while ADM501 introduces students entering Junior College to the reading, writing and critical-thinking demands of General Paper.
