The Dumpling Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival or Duan Wu Jie 端午节, is an important festival for Chinese communities around the world. Festive practices associated with the Dumpling Festival include dragon boat racing, eating delicious stuffed glutinous rice dumplings, as well as hanging up charms and pouches filled with herbs to ward off insects in the summer heat of the fifth lunar month.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote Chinese arts, culture and heritage, the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH) will present its annual Wan Qing Dumpling Festival online from 1 to 30 June 2020.

Through this, Singaporeans will be able to better understand and appreciate the historical and cultural significance of the Dumpling Festival – also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, an important festival celebrated by Chinese all over the world.

Uncover ancient Chinese myths and practices from the comfort of your own home with the inaugural digital edition of the well-loved Wan Qing Dumpling Festival celebrations by the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall!

The Dumpling Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is an important festival celebrated by Chinese communities all over the world. Wan Qing Dumpling Festival Invites the public to celebrate and acquaint themselves with the rich historical and cultural significance of the festival as part of the memorial hall’s efforts to promote Chinese arts, culture and heritage.

Held throughout the month of June via the memorial hall’s Facebook page (@sysnmh), Wan Qing Dumpling Festival aims to bring heritage to closer to home through an exciting line-up of family-friendly digital initiatives such as cooking classes, game contests, quizzes, interactive craft demonstrations and more.
