October is a month of celebration for children all around Singapore. While this year’s celebration will be toned down due to the tightened measures around Covid-19, parents can still find a way to keep their children happy and healthy as the event organiser of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) will be holding a Kids Virtual Race (VR) on their Virtual Club platform.
With the theme “Make it a Family Affair”, the virtual event will be held between 16 to 31 October 2021, and will allow registered child to take part in two races – 2KM and 4KM distances – where they can compete with other children from Singapore and the rest of the world. As it is a virtual event, participants can run safely anytime (within the race period) and anywhere, and their results will be recorded on the Virtual Club platform.
Here’s how to participate:
- Parents to help their child set up a SCSM Virtual Club account via this link. Registration is FREE!
- Get outside (adhering to the necessary social distancing measures, of course!) or hop on a treadmill.
- Make sure their SCSM Virtual Club account is connected to a participating running app (e.g. Nike+, Garmin)
- Complete the races within the stipulated dates below (walk or light jog works too).
Dates | Races |
16 to 31 October 2021 | • 2KM Race • 4KM Race |
Upon finishing each race, participants will earn a digital badge and parents can share their child’s achievement on social media with the hashtag #SCSMVC. For more information and to sign up for the event, do click onto the link here (event page will be available one week before the race period).
