Speakers Profile:

Fiona McDonald
Head of Programme Quality

Fiona McDonald

An experienced educator with over 30 years in the field, Fiona began her career teaching primary-aged students. Since relocating to Singapore more than 25 years ago, she has worked extensively with both preschool and primary school children, developing a deep understanding of the academic and emotional needs of young learners.

With a passion for developing individuals to their full potential, Fiona entered the specialist field of Learning Support. Over the years, she has worked closely with children aged 2 to 16 and their families, helping them identify strengths, overcome challenges, and build resilience with confidence.

Today, as Head of Programme Quality, Fiona partners with our educators in Singapore and internationally to ensure that every child thrives and succeeds in our programmes. She plays a key role in shaping and refining our curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant, responsive, and aligned with the evolving demands of today’s educational landscape – while staying true to our core philosophy.

Mala Sundram
Head of Drama, Communication & Literacy Programmes

Mala Sundram

Mala joined Julia Gabriel Education in 2002 as a Speech and Drama teacher, working closely alongside our founder, Julia Gabriel. Over the years, she has played an integral role in preserving and advancing the distinctive EduDrama® methodology that lies at the heart of our programmes.

As Head of Drama, Communication & Literacy Programmes, Mala leads the development and quality assurance of our curriculum, ensuring that every class reflects the depth, rigour, and creativity that define the Julia Gabriel experience. She works closely with educators across centres to uphold high teaching standards and to ensure that the principles of EduDrama® are thoughtfully and consistently delivered.

Deeply committed to Julia’s original vision, Mala continues to shape programme design and teacher training, mentoring educators to nurture confident communicators and expressive learners. Her leadership ensures that our curriculum remains both authentic to our heritage and responsive to the evolving needs of today’s learners.

An MOE-qualified English and Literature teacher, Mala taught in a secondary school prior to joining Julia Gabriel Education, bringing with her a strong academic foundation and a keen understanding of how communication and literacy skills support long-term academic success.
