Lucky for us parents and parents-to-be, Mount Alvernia Hospital has expanded its offerings with the grand opening of the St Anne Mother & Child Centre (SAMCC), set to meet the evolving needs of modern mothers and children.

Rooted in Catholic values by the Sisters from the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood (FMDM), the St Anne Mother and Child Centre is a new 10-storey facility dedicated to maternity and paediatric care. Alongside their team of over 200 on-campus specialist doctors, SAMCC is supported by more than 1,200 accredited doctors and a staff of warm and nurturing nurses. The state-of-the-art facility boasts enhanced clinical capabilities and houses critical inpatient facilities such as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a Neonatal Jaundice Unit and a High Dependency Unit.

Care and Comfort in the Rooms

SAMCC Premium Single

Adding onto its comprehensive range of integrated maternity and paediatric care, SAMCC features three floors of maternity wards with 68 beds. To meet the growing demand for privacy and comfort, patients can start their parenting journey in one of the two double-bedded rooms, single rooms (standard or premium), or suites (junior or premium) in different wards. Beautifully furnished in soothing neutral tones and fitted with thoughtful amenities, like a hair dryer, safe, and a mini fridge, the rooms also come with comfy sofa beds for the comfort of family members. With an in-house kitchen, mothers can expect fresh, nutritious meals spanning various cuisines to nourish their bodies after birth. Even the delivery suites are warmly decorated, with medical equipment kept out of sight to create a comfortable environment for delivery.

But really, newborns get the best space in the building, with nurseries boasting scenic views of the lush MacRitchie Reservoir. And when they are ready to go home, they’ll leave with their very own baby bags filled with necessities like toiletries, lotions, wipes, and even a milk bottle.

SAMCC Paediatrics Single Room

With two floors of paediatric wards, SAMCC houses 42 single-bedded rooms and one double-bedded room for children. Like the maternity rooms, thoughtful design features run through the paediatric rooms as well. Besides being well-spaced out with discreet medical equipment, the rooms exude much vibrancy with colourful walls and lively wallpapers designed by students with special needs; they even have a cute clock and child-sized furniture to boot.

Fun Fact: Each room is named after a Saint. That’s over a hundred names!

SAMCC’s patient-centric care continues through the one-stop centre for parents and their newborns. Parentcraft Centre provides expert guidance with antenatal consultations, breastfeeding consultations, and childbirth education courses. They even offer personalised home care services and baby massage classes and provide additional support through the Alvernia Breastfeeding Mothers’ Support Group. SAMCC ensures that no parent ever feels alone on their parenting journey, providing compassion and care right from the onset.
