It’s time to ‘Turn up the River’ at the Singapore River Festival 2017!
3rd edition of the festival packs a punch, with first-of-its-kind activities in Singapore
Get ready for the annual Singapore River Festival, coming to you this November 3rd and 4th! With this year’s theme, ‘Turn up the River’, festival goers can expect an exhilarating weekend of ‘firsts’ at our river precinct. Do not miss out on the exciting line-up of events and activities catered to both the young and old across the three iconic quays.
The Regatta Rumble: Witness Singapore’s First Night Regatta in 20 years
Follow the echoes of the magnificent dragon boat drums that will lead you to the Boat Quay Waterfront – where the inaugural Regatta Rumble will be held. Consisting of the SRF Night Regatta and the Singapore River Regatta, you’ll witness over 200 teams across both night and day for The Regatta Rumble.
On the nights of 3rd and 4th November, Boat Quay is illuminated for the first-night river regatta at Singapore River in 20 years. Singapore River Regatta, one of our longest running day dragon boat races, will be taking place on 4 and 5 November from the morning to late afternoon. This is the first time Singapore River One and Singapore Dragon Boat Association are collaborating for this event.
To add to the excitement, visitors are invited to the River Street Party at Circular Road after the races. You’ll be treated to live performances, fun games, and a wide array of food and drink options.
Clarke Quay Lights Up for SRF
Catch the first ever and biggest LED kite display at the Singapore River, right at Clarke Quay Central promenade. The Singapore River skyline will be decorated with 20 dazzling illuminated kites that will dovetail each other to form beautiful sequences.
Shows will be performed on the hour between, from 8pm onwards with featuring unique sequences and different songs.
Want to experience the magic of these LED kites firsthand? Get started with free drone trials and kite simulators at Clarke Quay Central. Members of the public can also try their hand at flying these kites during trial sessions on 3rd and 4th November at the open field beside Riverside Point, where experts will demonstrate how to activate the kites. During the kite show intermissions, we’ve invited talented local street performers The Annoying Brothers to put up a show to entertain everyone. They will be doing juggling tricks and playing games in an interactive street show at Clarke Quay Central’s River Promenade.
On the other side of the river, the LIT UP Party is roaring to go at the Clarke Quay Fountain Square. Using state-of-the-art light projections, the Fountain Square will transform into a first-of-its-kind dancefloor-cum-art installation. Step into the zone and be part of the psychedelic canvas of shapes and colours! This will be a rave like no other.
Rise to the challenge at the largest trivia night at Robertson Quay
Give your brains a fun workout at the first ever mass trivia competition this SRF 2017! Held at Robertson Walk, participants are invited to huddle with their friends and test their wits on topics ranging from general knowledge, pop culture and local history across five rounds. It’s more than just a brain tease, you’ll have to sharpen your hearing during our “Guess the Music Intro” rounds. Attractive prizes are up for grabs for the top three winning teams. What’s more; you don’t have to worry about picking up the tab for the night when you stand victorious!
Unwind with the latest exercise trend at The Quayside
Get in with the latest yoga trend that’s got everyone buzzed – beer yoga! Participants will attend a yoga class that is pretty much like every yoga class…except that each attendee also downs a bottle or two of beer over the course of the experience. Achieve a whole new level of zen and tipsiness as you stretch out your limbs and sip your booze!
Enjoy a local film under the night sky
Treat yourself to a relaxing movie night under the stars at Quayside Cinema II! Back for the second year due to popular demand, this year’s festival will screen local favourite, “3688”. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Royston Tan, the musical comedy stars local artiste Joi Chua, who plays a parking attendant aspiring to become a singer. Grab some popcorn, and join us for a night of laughter and good music!
Exclusive SRF promotions for festival goers
Looking to find the river’s best bites? Keep a look out for exclusive promotions during the festival period. A key highlight of the Singapore River Festival every year, SR Signatures features some of the best dining options along the three quays – Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay. To celebrate their victory with the river’s patrons, several SR Signatures winners from this year’s edition will come together to offer promotions on their winning dishes and more from the month of October to 12 November. Leading up to the festival dates, the full list of promotions will be listed on the Singapore River Festival website and Facebook from early October.
Held annually; since 2015, the Singapore River Festival celebrates the heritage, people and places that make up the iconic Singapore River.
