4th Edition of Festival Returns with a Bang, with Inaugural Month-Long Celebration
Date: 16 October to 11 November 2018
Venue: Singapore River
Singapore River Festival (SRF) 2018 kicks off its fourth edition bigger and better – with a month-long celebration from 16 October to 11 November. Organized by Singapore River One (SRO) in partnership with EZ-Link and Plus!, the festival is an annual event that celebrates the heritage, people and places along the iconic Singapore River. With the theme “Your River, Your Vibe”, SRF is bringing a larger dose of local goodness, with an exciting line-up of locally themed performances and activities across all three quays – Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay and Boat Quay.
LAH Bazaar: Singapore’s first ever e-payment riverside market
The festival begins earlier this year with LAH Bazaar, Singapore’s first ever riverside e-payment driven outdoor market. LAH stands for “Local at Heart” or colloquially, “Long Zong Also Have” (“It has everything!”) to reflect the heartland personality of the Bazaar. Open throughout the festival period, on Tuesdays to Sundays, the outdoor marketplace boasts over 100 vendors and activities. Festival-goers can expect a good mix of retail, food and fun at the bazaar, spreading across Clarke Quay.
Michelle Koh, Executive Director of Singapore River One shared, “Singapore River is the home of Singaporean enterprise, where much of our history stems from. We are organizing this Bazaar to celebrate Singaporean entrepreneurs, who range from young upstarts to seasoned operators. This is enhanced further by the fact that our main collaborators are Singaporean brands as well, with main sponsors EZ-Link and Plus!, Tiger Beer as our official beer. We hope that organizing a bazaar of this scale can add to the vibrancy of our precinct which is one of our main objectives as a precinct manager of Singapore River.”
In line with Singapore’s initiative to encourage e-payment, the inaugural LAH Bazaar will be powered by EZ-Link. Festival-goers can conveniently make payments just by tapping their EZ-Link at booths and enjoy special promotions via NTUC Link’s Plus! App and earn 8x LinkPoints at LAH Bazaar when they link their EZ-Link and Plus! accounts, on top of earning EZ-Link Reward points. Visitors can purchase and top up their EZ-Link at stations located across the festival.
“EZ-Link is excited to power e-payment for this annual festival, as part of our concerted efforts in driving e-payment adoption across Singapore. Apart from the convenience of using and topping up EZ-Link at the festival, visitors can also enjoy exciting rewards and promotions as part of their e-payment experience. Together with Plus! and other partners, we aim to continue to realise the immense potential of e-payments in every aspect of our lives,” said Mr Nicholas Lee, Chief Executive Officer of EZ-Link Pte Ltd.
NTUC Link CEO Sandeep Bhalla added, “Much value has been given back to consumers in their daily commute since NTUC Link’s partnership with EZ Link in February this year. We are once again excited to partner with EZ Link for Singapore River Festival to incentivise visitors to the event. Visitors who transact with EZ Link at the festival will enjoy LinkPoints from the Plus! Rewards Programme. These points can be redeemed at over 270 partners on our Plus! programme.”
