This August, One Punggol will transform into a vibrant hub of national pride, intergenerational bonding, and community spirit, as it hosts a lineup of events commemorating SG60. As part of this year’s SG60 festivities, the heartlands take centre stage, inviting families, neighbours, and residents of all ages to come together in celebrating the values that have shaped Singapore’s journey – unity, gratitude, and the enduring kampung spirit.
From the solemn observance of our National Day ceremony to lively community gatherings, the month’s programmes pay tribute to the past, celebrate the present, and inspire a renewed sense of togetherness for the future.

Kicking off the celebrations is the National Day Observance Ceremony 2025, scheduled for the morning of 9 August. Graced by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, and Adviser to Punggol GRC Grassroots Organisations, the celebration will include old school snacks stalls, game stalls and bouncy castles for the little ones, and not forgetting the National Day mass sing-along that rekindles our shared memories and kampung spirit.

🕙 4pm – 9pm
📍 Open Field beside One Punggol
Keeping the festivities going, the National Day Heartlands Celebrations 2025 @ North East will take place on 10 August from 4pm to 9pm, where over 30,000 residents are expected to be joined by all the Grassroots Advisers in the North East District, for an evening filled with performances and fireworks at the open field beside One Punggol.
In line with this year’s theme of the National Day Heartlands Celebrations, “One HOPE”, the event will bring people of all ages and walks of life together, united not just in celebration, but in the shared belief that our best days are ahead.
In the spirit of “One HOPE”, the event will highlight:
- H – Hopes and Dreams: Celebrating intergenerational bonds and multicultural unity.
- O – Our Shared Future: Encouraging volunteerism, sustainability and community action.
- P – Pen Your Wish: A chance for residents to write and share their hopes for Singapore.
- E – Engage and Connect: Fostering friendships and common interests among neighbours.
As part of SG60, residents can also participate in Light Up Hope – a heart-led initiative to support persons with disabilities. For every $5 donation or purchase of Shaping Hearts merchandise or artwork, a bottle will be lit up to symbolise inclusivity and compassion. Participants will also receive a complimentary heart fan as a token of appreciation and a reminder of the brighter, more inclusive Singapore we are building together.
One of the key highlights for this year’s edition: the mobile column which will be travelling through the neighbourhoods to the heartland site for the first time since 2020, giving residents a rare opportunity to get up close with the vehicles and personnel from the SAF, SPF and SCDF – such as Singapore’s first fully digital fighting vehicle, the Hunter Armoured Fighting Vehicle (HT-AFV), and one of SCDF’s latest additions to its firefighting fleet, the Surface-to-air PYthon-5 and DERby (SPYDER) – when they form a display at the open field beside One Punggol to showcase Singapore’s strength and unity.
Adding to the excitement, the Fighter Island Flypast will see four F-16 fighter jets soaring across the skies in a diamond formation between 6pm and 6.30pm, a sight that’s sure to impress everyone joining in the celebrations. As the sun sets, a spectacular fireworks and drone show display will light up the skies of Punggol, a visual extravaganza for all ages.
