In an ever-changing world where emergencies and disasters can strike without warning, the need for preparedness and resilience has never been greater. Singapore, known for its proactive approach to safety and disaster management, houses two remarkable institutions dedicated to preserving its civil defence heritage and empowering its citizens to be prepared for any eventuality – the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery (CDHG) and the Emergency Preparedness Centre. These establishments, located within the premises of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), serve as crucial hubs for education, reflection, and readiness, embodying Singapore’s commitment to safeguarding its people.

Nestled within the SCDF premises, the CDHG stands as a testament to the nation’s journey through history’s trials and tribulations. As visitors step through its doors, they embark on a captivating journey through time, tracing the evolution of Singapore’s civil defence efforts. The Emergency Preparedness Centre: Learning, Simulating, Empowering

Civil Defence Heritage Gallery Emergency Preparedness Centre On Sea

Situated on the second storey of CDHG is the Emergency Preparedness Centre. Offering visitors an opportunity to engage with contemporary emergency scenarios. The centre employs state-of-the-art technology and interactive simulations to provide a firsthand experience of the challenges posed by various emergencies, from natural disasters to industrial accidents. For instance, we had a chance to extinguish a burning car using a jet spray.

The CDHG and the Emergency Preparedness Centre work in harmony within the SCDF premises, creating a comprehensive approach to disaster education and preparedness. While the CDHG connects Singaporeans with their historical roots and heritage of resilience, the Emergency Preparedness Centre equips them with contemporary knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges of today’s world.
