Interactive experiences and activities to inspire ocean appreciation at Singapore Oceanarium

From 6 to 8 June, the Research and Learning Centre at Singapore Oceanarium will host a line-up of programmes in celebration of World Oceans Day.

Taking place from 6 to 7 June, GREEN-HOUSE HangOut: Ready, Set, Reef! is a two-day family programme presented in conjunction with World Oceans Day and Go Green SG. Produced by Pass It On Studio, the programme invites children and families to learn about reef stewardship through immersive play, hands-on learning, and opportunities to contribute to coral restoration efforts in Singapore’s waters.

At the heart of the programme are three Reef Mission stations, where children and young adults take on the roles of Reef Rescuer, Reef Ranger, and Reef Hero through activities centred on ocean clean-up, responsible stewardship, and reef restoration. Alongside these mission stations, a curated marketplace features Singapore-based brands whose products help everyday consumers reduce their impact on marine ecosystems.

The Oceanic Journey, a new Singapore Oceanarium coffee table book will also be launched in conjunction with World Oceans Day from 6 to 7 June. Designed as a visual passage through Singapore Oceanarium, the book captures the experience of moving across immersive spaces that bring the ocean’s story to life. Each spread reflects a moment in this journey – from ancient marine worlds to the deep ocean – revealing how diverse environments shape the life within them. Interwoven throughout are insights into marine animals, illuminating their adaptations, behaviours, and the connections that bind ocean life together. Together, these pages echo a spirit of exploration, celebrating the ocean’s beauty while drawing attention to its delicate balance and our shared responsibility to care for it.

Complementing the line-up across all three days is a curated series of short film screenings from the Earth In Focus Nature Film Festival, presented in partnership with Wild Space, a social enterprise dedicated to increasing awareness and driving action for environmental conservation. These films surface urgent stories from wild ecosystems and invite audiences to reflect on their relationship with the natural world.

For a more hands-on experience, visitors can also join a sea star clay-making workshop and take home a creative keepsake inspired by Singapore’s reef ecosystems.

This year, Singapore Oceanarium has partnered with FUJIFILM Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. to present a Photo Walk Series, from 6 to 8 June. Participants will discover new ways to capture the beauty of marine life through their lens. Led by FUJIFILM’s award-winning photographer Joseph Goh, the guided experience will take participants through the oceanarium, offering tips on composition, lighting, and visual storytelling within the immersive setting. Registration will open concurrently for all sessions from 13 May for Singapore Oceanarium Season Pass and Triple Play Season Pass Holders, and the FUJIFILM community from 15 May.

Also held in collaboration with FUJIFILM is a social media contest running from 29 May to 30 June, inviting guests to capture and share their favourite marine moments from the oceanarium. From mesmerising underwater scenes to unique perspectives of marine life, participants can showcase their creativity while celebrating the wonders of the ocean. Selected entries stand a chance to win attractive prizes, including Singapore Oceanarium Insider Experience passes, a FUJIFILM camera, and more – making it the perfect opportunity for budding photographers and casual visitors alike to get inspired and join in the celebration.
