Beauty and the Beast is a much-loved classic that continues to fill the hearts of both new and returning audiences – based on the 1991 animated film, the original production of Beauty and the Beast played for more than 13 years on Broadway, remaining to this day one of the top 10 longest-running shows in Broadway history, and touring to 37 countries worldwide. Audiences in Asia will be enchanted by this new production, featuring the nostalgic and spellbinding songs of Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, including Belle, Gaston, Be Our Guest and the cherished title song, Beauty and the Beast.

In this brand-new production, the enchanting tale of Belle and the Beast has been reimagined with breathtaking new sets, costume designs, and state-of-the-art technology to bring the timeless romance to life on stage with all the spectacle and grandeur audiences know and love.

Members of the creative team from the original, ground-breaking Broadway musical have returned to reimagine the classic tale. Olivier Award nominee Matt West directs and choreographs, leading a team that includes original composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice, book writer Linda Woolverton, scenic designer Stan Meyer, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward and lighting designer Natasha Katz. The team collectively received five Tony® nominations and a win for Hould-Ward’s costume design, when Disney first debuted Beauty and the Beast on Broadway 31 years ago.

“For three decades, we’ve heard from audiences that the characters, songs and sweeping romance of Beauty and the Beast have touched them in a profound way,” said Anne Quart, Executive Producer, Disney Theatrical Group. “How proud we are to bring this refreshed and human take on the show – with the scale and spectacle the title deserves – to longtime fans and an entirely new generation. This Beauty is for them.”

Chief Executive Officer of Base Entertainment Asia, Chantal Prudhomme said, “After the incredible success of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Frozen, I am thrilled to continue our partnership with Disney and present the timeless romance of Beauty and the Beast to audiences in Singapore and across Asia. This classic tale has been reimagined with the signature Disney magic and will leave audiences immersed in the enchanting romance that has captivated hearts for years.”

In Australia, Beauty and the Beast has enjoyed phenomenal success, with ticket sales surpassing one million across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, an achievement it will far exceed once the production has played Adelaide and Perth, setting the stage for this highly anticipated season in Singapore.

Beauty and the Beast is produced by Disney Theatrical Group under the direction of Andrew Flatt, Anne Quart and Thomas Schumacher and presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia under the direction of Chantal Prudhomme.
