The National Library Board (NLB) offers a diverse and exciting range of activities and programmes for children and teenagers during the upcoming September school holidays.

The lineup includes hands-on sessions focusing on science and the arts and interactive storytelling sessions in English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil. There will be activities related to wellness and sustainability to inspire children and teenagers to take care of their well-being and the world around them. From 30 August, children can also read and borrow from NLB’s vast collections to redeem new and exclusive Book Bugs: Tales of Travellers collectible cards.
These fun and educational programmes aim to encourage learning, foster a love for reading, and inspire discovery among children across a wide range of topics! All programmes are free.
Key highlights include:
• Storytelling sessions in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil at various libraries, with some including fun, hands-on activities such as craft, music and games.
• [Book Bugs: Tales of Travellers] – The latest edition of the popular Book Bugs series is back from 30 August to inspire children to read and learn. Children can borrow from NLB’s vibrant collections to redeem new Book Bugs collectible cards, and complete the Stamp Challenge at participating libraries to get their hands on Book Bugs exclusives.
• [Budding Scientists] Science Explorers LearnX Community – Jellyfish Fashion Half-Day Camp at Central Public Library – Children can discover fascinating facts about sea creatures, and try their hand at making their own jellyfish lantern for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival at this camp blending science and art.
• [DiscoverTech] Coding with Edison Robot at Pasir Ris Public Library – At this fun and engaging hands-on programme, children aged four to six can learn more about coding and programming with the Edison robot.
• [Little Artists] Kids Holiday Beatbox Workshop at Serangoon Public Library – Perfect for children under the age of seven, this session offers a fun experience to explore the basics of beatboxing.
• Spark!Lab™ at Punggol Regional Library, and pop-ups at Serangoon Public Library and Yishun Public Library – For the inventor in every child, participants will be able to try their hand at creating innovative solutions to different challenges.
• Teens Takeover at various libraries – From reading programmes to wellness, digital and sustainability programmes, there is a vibrant array of activities that appeal to the interests of teens. Highlights include a money management workshop at Clementi Public Library, along with an interactive comic book-inspired sharing session and tabletop game activity to learn more about mRNA technology at Clementi Public Library and Choa Chu Kang Public Library.
• Video Streaming eResources at all libraries and from the comfort of their homes – Children and teens can explore the educational video content from Access Video on Demand (AVOD) – Just for Kids, Kanopy Kids and medici.tv.
