Academia June Holiday Writing Programmes for Primary Students

Academia’s June Holiday Programmes are designed for Primary students who would benefit from focused, structured practice in English writing during the school break.

These short workshops help students work on some of the most important areas of the English syllabus, especially composition writing, story structure, descriptive techniques, and the organisation of ideas. Each module has been carefully refined over the years, drawing from Academia’s in-house curriculum, classroom experience, and the writing challenges students commonly face at different primary levels.

For younger Primary students, the workshops introduce the foundations of story-writing, including characters, setting, plot, conflict, and resolution. Students learn how to build a clear beginning, middle, and end, while developing stronger habits in planning and expression.

For middle Primary students, the programmes explore values and virtues in composition writing. Students are guided to think more carefully about character choices, moral situations, and how stories can be shaped with purpose and clarity.

For upper Primary students, the workshops focus on narrative structure and descriptive techniques. Students learn how to develop introductions, build suspense, strengthen climaxes, and write more complete conclusions. They also work on vocabulary, description, emotion, dialogue, and action, with the aim of producing writing that is more vivid, coherent, and controlled.

These are not simply holiday activities, but focused academic workshops designed to help students return to school with stronger writing foundations, clearer structure, and greater precision in expression.

Programmes are available for P1–P6 students, with 2-day and 3-day formats. Sessions are held at Academia’s Upper Thomson centre.
