For neurodiverse children, the after-school hours can be a challenging gap in support. Born from our parents’ needs, the BtG After-School Care Programme is the natural next step after early intervention. It’s more than childcare; it’s a therapeutic haven where children continue to learn and grow. We seamlessly blend therapy and education, turning daily routines into opportunities for growth, ensuring hard-won progress is sustained and celebrated every day.

BtG AFTER-SCHOOL CARE PROGRAMME

BtG After-School Care Programme

Programme Overview & Uniqueness

1. How did the idea for BtG’s After-School Care Programme come about?

The idea evolved naturally from conversations with parents whose children were graduating from BtG’s Early Intervention and School Readiness programmes. Many expressed concern about what came next – how to sustain progress once formal therapy hours ended.

We realised there was a pressing need for structured after-school support tailored to neurodiverse learners, one that could seamlessly extend therapeutic goals into daily routines.

That became the inspiration for BtG’s After-School Care Programme – a space where children can continue to learn, play, and grow with professional guidance and emotional support.

2. What gap in the market or in children’s needs were you hoping to address with this programme?

Most after-school centres focus on homework supervision or child-minding. Yet for children with developmental, learning, or emotional differences, these environments often lack the therapeutic and behavioural support necessary for meaningful growth. BtG’s programme fills this gap by combining specialised education, therapy reinforcement, and social-emotional learning – all under one roof. It ensures that every child has continued access to skilled professionals who understand their learning profiles and can help them generalise therapeutic gains into daily life.

3. What makes BtG’s After-School Care Programme different from typical after-school or student care services?

Our model is therapeutic and inclusive by design.

Each session integrates:

  • Occupational Therapy support for motor and sensory skill development
  • Speech & Language Therapy support for communication and comprehension
  • Play Therapy and Social Skills Groups for emotional and peer development
  • Guided academic reinforcement by specialised educators

The multidisciplinary team – therapists, educators, and behavioural coaches – work collaboratively to align school goals, therapeutic strategies, and home routines. This ensures continuity of care and maximises each child’s potential.

Demand & Impact

4. Have you noticed an increase in inquiries or demand for after-school support among parents of neurodiverse children?

Absolutely. Since we first announced the programme, interest has been very strong, especially among parents whose children are completing our Early Intervention or School Readiness programmes this year.

Many have already expressed intention to enrol once the programme officially commences in January 2026, citing the comfort of staying within BtG’s trusted ecosystem and continuity of care.

5. Can you share how many children are currently enrolled, or how the programme has grown since launch?

Enrolment is ongoing, with initial intakes drawn largely from BtG’s existing families. The open houses currently being held at our Buona Vista and City Square Mall centres have seen encouraging turnout.

As part of BtG’s expansion, our third centre at Marine Parade (Parkway Parade) – opening in October 2025 – will serve as a key hub for the After-School Care Programme, meeting strong demand from families in the East region.

6. What kinds of developmental or behavioural progress have you observed among children attending this programme? (e.g., improvements in social skills, emotional regulation, confidence)

From our pilot groups and bridging sessions, we’ve observed marked improvements in:

  • Emotional regulation – children apply coping tools learned in therapy to everyday transitions.
  • Social communication – they engage peers more confidently during play and group projects.
  • Academic resilience – improved attention span, handwriting, and confidence with homework tasks.

Parents frequently share that their children are happier, calmer, and more eager to attend BtG – a strong indicator of both comfort and growth.

7. Are there any success stories or parent testimonials that illustrate the programme’s impact?

One mother described how her son, once anxious and withdrawn after school, now eagerly anticipates his afternoons at BtG – where he “feels understood and proud of what he can do.”

Another parent shared that her daughter has become more expressive and independent, often using “self-calm” strategies taught by the educators. These stories affirm BtG’s belief that real progress extends beyond therapy sessions – it happens through daily consistency and care.

Team & Philosophy

8. What kind of professionals are involved in running the After-School Care Programme (e.g., therapists, educators, counsellors)?

The programme is lead by a multidisciplinary team including:

  • Speech & Language Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Play Therapists
  • Specialised Educators trained in literacy and numeracy remediation
  • Behavioural and Social Skills Coaches
  • Programme Coordinators who maintain close communication with parents

This ensures that every child’s plan remains holistic, measurable, and deeply personalised.

Broader Context

9. How does this programme support BtG’s larger mission of bridging developmental and learning gaps?

BtG’s founding mission is to bridge the gap between potential and progress – empowering every child to thrive at school, at home, and in the community. The After-School Care Programme extends this mission by offering a continuum of support beyond early intervention, guiding children through their primary years with the structure, empathy, and expertise they need.

It represents BtG’s long-term vision: to build inclusive pathways where no child’s progress ends when therapy time does.

Quote by Janice Tay, Founder & Clinical Director

“Parents often tell us their biggest challenge isn’t during therapy hours, but after school – when structure fades and children struggle to apply what they’ve learned.
BtG’s After-School Care bridges that gap, turning everyday routines into moments for growth, connection, and confidence.”

The BtG After-School Care Programme turns potential into lasting progress. By integrating therapy and learning into a child’s day, we ensure their development continues beyond formal sessions. As our founder says, we “bridge that gap,” transforming everyday moments into confidence and connection. We are committed to being a trusted partner for your family, providing the expert, caring support your child needs to thrive.
