Encouraging young ones to ‘wander and wonder’
on Christmas-themed learning adventures!
For 7-month to 12-year olds

ACT 3 Drama Academy, recognised for its highly educational and entertaining programmes for children, is pleased to announce its delightful Christmas themed Year-End Holiday Workshops (21 November to 17 December 2016, selected dates) for 7-month to 12-year olds to round up the year on a festive note!

Inspired by the classics of Puss in Boots; How the Grinch Stole Christmas; and Mother Goose; as well as Eric Carle’s Little Cloud and Dream Snow, these workshops will ignite the child’s imagination, while introducing a generous amount of imagination, fun and laughter on the learning adventure.

There will also be a performance at the end of the workshops for 3 to 12 year olds as wonderful finale to their learning journey. Conducted by experienced Drama Educators in a convivial and conducive environment, the workshops focus on helping the child discover simple concepts, build confidence and acquire the basic techniques of drama.

Look Up! Look Up to the Sky!
Based on Little Cloud by Eric Carle
For 7 to 17 months, with parent
23, 26 November; 3, 10, 14, 17 December 2016 (one-day workshop)
10.30am to 11.30am
$50 per child (with parent)

In this unique parent and child drama workshop, the building blocks of imagination will reach the sky in this ‘transformational’ adventure of the little cloud that morphs into a fluffy sheep, a shark and even Santa Claus! Key aspects of experiential and tactile learning, as well as singing, movement and working with props will be explored.

Snowy Dreams
Based on Dream Snow by Eric Carle
For 2 year olds, with parent
26 November; 1, 3, 8, 10, 17 December 2016 (one-day workshop)
10.30am to 11.45am
$60 per child (with parent)

Dreams and exploration abound in this parent and child workshop together with the old farmer and his animals as they prepare for a ‘white Christmas’. It will be a fun session of singing, movement and learning new vocabulary.

A Rhyming Christmas Mystery
Based on Mother Goose Stories by Mother Goose by Charles Perrault
For 3 to 4 year olds
21 to 25 November; 28 November to 2 December; 5 to 9 December; 12 to 16 December (five-day workshops)
2 hours, various timings
$300 per child

With the experienced Drama Educator (Mother Goose) leading the pack, children will learn to use their power of imagination to build creativity and confidence; while developing speech and rhyming skills. There will be a celebratory Yuletide performance where the little ones will get the opportunity to act out the famous characters of Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Old Mother Hubbard, Georgy Peorgy and Little Miss Muffet in this brilliant Christmas mystery!

Puss-in-Boots
Based on Puss in Boots by Charles Perrault
For 5 to 7 year olds
21 to 25 November; 28 November to 2 December; 5 to 9 December; 12 to 16 December (five-day workshops)
2 hours, various timings
$300 per child

A spot of feline frenzy awaits as the child follows the famous cat and his boots on a cunning Christmas adventure. Important drama tools such as characterisation, improvisation and physicality will be explored, and a festive performance concludes the workshop.

Don’t Steal Christmas, please!
Based on How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss
For 8 to 12 year olds
21 to 25 November; 28 November to 2 December; 5 to 9 December; 12 to 16 December (five-day workshops)
3 hours, various timings
$380 per child

Older children will benefit from drama tools such as character work, spatial awareness and voice work; along with essential life skills such as concentration and working as a team. Will the grouchy Grinch remove the Christmas spirit once and for all?
