This year’s edition of the Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Festival is held in conjunction with the Singapore Garden Festival (SGF).
From 30 July to 9 August 2022, the Gardens will bring you through a heritage journey with activities such as concerts, guided tours, DIY trails and virtual activities! Join us in fun-filled programmes curated to celebrate the Gardens’ rich heritage.
Below are some of the highlights:
1. Arts@SBG presents NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Gardens
30 July 2022 | 6pm – 7pm | Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage
Come and celebrate Singapore Botanic Gardens‘ Heritage Festival with an evening of music! Singapore’s most celebrated classical string ensemble, the T’ang Quartet, will perform at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage featuring familiar classics – excerpts from works of beauty and refinement by great composers such as Mozart, Haydn, Borodin, Brahms, Bizet and more.
Singapore Botanic Gardens is a part of the National Arts Council’s Arts and Culture Nodes Network.
2. An Evening of Pop Opera with FIVERA
7 August 2022 | 6pm – 7pm | Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage
Join us for an evening of pop-opera with FIVERA!
The evening’s entertainment will feature a performance by FIVERA, a quintet of classically trained musicians from Thailand who will thrill audiences with their repertoire of popular classic operatic arias and renditions of universally popular hit songs from the movies and West End show tunes
3. Heritage Tour
30 July 2022 | 9am | Visitor Services Counter at Tanglin Gate
For over 160 years, Singapore Botanic Gardens has been the birthplace of Southeast Asia’s rubber and orchid industries. A walk through Tanglin / Heritage Core of the Gardens will evoke memories of bygone days where ladies stroll through the Gardens with the parasols and long skirts. Highlights of the tour include the Bandstand, sculptures in the Gardens, Heritage Trees, the Main Gate, and the Saraca Stream Walk.
4. Rain Forest Tour
30 July 2022 | 10am | Visitor Services Counter at Nassim Gate
Discover the enchantment of our tropical rain forest with our volunteer guides in this one-hour tour.
5. Botanical Art Gallery Exhibition Tour
30 July & 6 August 2022 | 10am | Botanical Art Gallery Level 1 [Gallop Extension]
Join us for a one hour guided tour of the Botanical Art Gallery, which showcases Singapore’s first permanent display of botanical art. Learn about the vital role that art plays in the scientific documentation of plants in Singapore and the region, as well as how art can inspire renewed appreciation of the natural world around us.
6. SBG Heritage Museum + CDL Green Gallery Exhibition Tour
31 July 2022 | 10am | Visitor Services Counter at Tanglin Gate
Join us for a one hour guided tour of the SBG Heritage Museum and CDL Green Gallery. The SBG Heritage Museum features interactive and multimedia exhibits and panels that detail the Gardens’ rich heritage. While the CDL Green Gallery, an extension of the Heritage Museum, currently showcases how Singapore has been working to mitigate the effects of urbanisation and climate change, and how everyone has a part to play in building ocean resilience.
7. Seed Bank Exhibition Tour
7 August 2022 | 10am | Visitor Services Counter at Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden
Join us for a one hour guided tour of the Seed Bank. A conservation, research and education facility in the Singapore Botanic Gardens that focuses on conserving plant species by preserving the seeds and germplasm of plants in Southeast Asia.
8. Sketching Workshop: Historical Structures in SBG
31 July & 7 August 2022 | 10am | Location TBC
Make Singapore Botanic Gardens your studio! Learn how to sketch and paint our incredible historical structures here at Singapore Botanic Gardens.
9. Children’s Storytelling: Libby at the Botanic Gardens
31 July & 7 August 2022 | 10am | Location TBC
Join us for a wonderful morning of learning about our Garden’s rich heritage through animated storytelling!
10. DIY Trail#
30 July – 9 August 2022| 9am – 5.30pm | Visitor Services Counter at Tanglin Gate
Calling all enthusiastic explorers! Come on an adventure and discover some interesting facts of Singapore Botanic Gardens’ history by following the Heritage trail!
