Model trains weave through landscapes inspired by the United States, Denmark and Singapore in a festive intercontinental journey

This festive season, Gardens by the Bay brings back the Christmas Train Show (滨海湾花园圣诞列车之旅) to Flower Dome for its second edition, premiering Singapore’s cityscape in its signature floral display, with a custom-made G-scale SMRT train weaving through iconic local landmarks such as heritage shophouses, the Dragon Playground, the Merlion and the Supertrees.
The floral display will take visitors into a miniature world where over 20 model trains rotated throughout the duration of the floral display traverse 145 metres of looping tracks that go past handcrafted scenes of the United States, Denmark and Singapore. Gardens by the Bay’s Christmas Train Show draws inspiration from the long-standing American tradition of model trains beneath Christmas trees, which eventually grew into large-scale holiday train shows that are popular across the United States during the festive season.
This year’s Christmas Train Show is presented in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and the Royal Danish Embassy in Singapore, and American counterparts New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) and the United States Botanic Garden (USBG).

Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance Mr Jeffrey Siow, Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore His Excellency Jakob Brix Tange, and Counsellor (Management Affairs) at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore Ms Lisa Liao officially launched the floral display today. The Christmas Train Show will run until 4 January 2026.
Gardens by the Bay CEO Mr Felix Loh said, “Whether it is travelling to see loved ones or to return home, trains symbolise connection, and this connection is a theme that many will relate to, especially during the festive season when we want to spend time with family and friends. This year’s Christmas Train Show is a ground-up effort across countries and communities, and the addition of our first Singapore G-scale SMRT train amidst a landscape full of local flavour that has a special resonance in the year of SG60. We hope young and old will take away with them warm and joyful feelings as they enjoy this holiday period together.”

Rounding up the experience is a lush horticultural showcase of close to 7,000 plants across more than 130 varieties. The vibrant reds, pinks and creams of 18 poinsettia varieties, together with 50 types of conifers rising up to 4 metres, recreate the deep-forest, wintry atmosphere many associate with Christmas.
Celebrating Singapore’s story in SG60
In the milestone SG60 year, the Christmas Train Show commemorates Singapore through collaborations with homegrown partners SMRT Trains and carpentry studio Roger&Sons.

At the heart of this scene is a specially commissioned G-scale replica of a Singapore North–South and East–West Line MRT train, created in collaboration with SMRT Trains and local train enthusiast group Singapore Railways, that will chug past familiar local icons. These are miniature versions of the Supertrees, Merlion, Dragon Playground, Raffles Place MRT Station and heritage shophouses, which are crafted from upcycled local timber by Roger&Sons, who breathe new life into discarded Singapore trees through their commitment to sustainable craftsmanship.
A unique interpretation of a life-sized train cabin uses an infinity-mirror effect to create the illusion of a carriage stretching endlessly into the distance, capturing the spirit of homebound journeys during the festive season, and a meaningful nod to Singapore’s SG60 year.
American icons brought to life in botanical form

Other miniature trains travel across scenes inspired by the United States, brought to life through 42 intricate structures painstakingly handcrafted by Applied Imagination, an American company specialising in “botanical architecture” – miniature buildings made entirely from natural materials such as bark, twigs, seed pods and pinecone scales.
These include San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, classic American gardens such as the Biltmore House and Conservatory, and whimsical scenes of Santa’s Village, including his home and workshop. These botanical models form the largest collection ever displayed outside the U.S. and Canada.
Among them are three landmark pieces – the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Terminal, and the US Botanic Garden Conservatory – on loan from NYBG and USBG. Both NYBG and USBG – the oldest continuously operating public garden in America – host well-loved holiday train shows each year.
Nordic Christmas cheer comes to Flower Dome
In commemoration of 60 years of bilateral ties between Singapore and Denmark, Gardens by the Bay has collaborated with the Royal Danish Embassy to bring the warmth and storytelling of a Danish Christmas to Flower Dome. A 4.5-metre-tall LEGO Christmas tree greets visitors at the entrance, offering a festive preview of what awaits inside. From there, Danish-style G-scale trains glide past a rotating carousel featuring beloved Hans Christian Andersen tales, before continuing past a 6.5-metre-long Nyhavn harbourfront made of LEGO.
Visitors can take photos with a black-and-red locomotive reminiscent of a classic Danish steam train, and a showcase of festive tableware by Royal Copenhagen that reflects Denmark’s tradition of gathering on Christmas Eve.
Beyond the display, visitors can also take part in special LEGO activities that add an interactive and heartwarming touch to the festive season at South American Garden in Flower Dome, from Friday to Sunday throughout the duration of the display.
A special LEGO pop-up store will also be available at the Foyer located beside the Main Ticketing Counter offering exclusive LEGO merchandise for visitors.
