From dazzling performances to irresistible festive treats, the Chinatown Singapore Winter Solstice Celebration 2025 promises a day of heritage and flavour along Smith Street, inviting residents and visitors to indulge in the rich traditions that make Chinatown Singapore a cultural icon.

Cultural Performances That Bring Tradition to Life

The celebrations will ignite with a line-up of free stage performances that will fill the street with energy. Crowds can marvel at lion dance displays (醒狮表演), captivating face-changing acts (变脸表演), and graceful Chinese dance performances (中华舞蹈表演), each showcasing the artistry and heritage that continue to shape Chinatown Singapore’s unique charm.

Festive Highlight: Exclusive Tang Yuan Experience

Adding to the festivities, one of the most anticipated highlights of the celebration is the tang yuan (汤圆) experience, a symbolic Winter Solstice treat that represents reunion and warmth. In partnership with Grandpa Durian, visitors can indulge in limited-edition durian and gula melaka tang yuan, freshly prepared onsite and served at just $2 per bowl (2 pieces). This special treat offers a meaningful and delicious way for families and friends to embrace the spirit of the season.

Beyond the stage, Smith Street will transform into a vibrant hub of interactive cultural experiences, inviting festival-goers to explore heritage up close. Visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in Chinese calligraphy (免费书法), paper cutting (传统剪纸), henna art (海娜体验), Nyonya dress-up (娘惹服装体验), tea sampling (茶坊), and incense pendant crafting (手工香吊坠). These engaging activities offer a fun and enriching way to discover the stories and artistry passed down through generations.

Admission to the event is free, with all stage performances open to the public. Activity booths will require a small fee, except for Chinese calligraphy (免费书法), which is complimentary.
