EQUAL's 'Christmas At The Stable' Returns With Christmas Market And Therapy Horses

Event proceeds go towards EQUAL’s animal-assisted programmes for persons in need, as well as the care of the charity’s herd of retired, rescued and rehomed horses

Christmas at the Stables, one of Singapore’s most unique year-end experiences, returns for its third edition this 5 to 8 December. An annual fundraising event by EQUAL – a charity organisation that supports the well-being of persons in need through animal-assisted programmes – the four-day event will feature immersive encounters with therapy horses, festive performances, tractor rides, games and workshops for all ages, as well as a Christmas Market featuring pop-ups by well-loved retail and F&B brands. Ticket sales and event proceeds go towards supporting the charity, ensuring their animal-assisted programmes remain affordable for their beneficiaries, as well as the well-being of their animal partners.

EQUAL partners a herd of miniature horses and retired polo, riding school and racehorses to provide animal-assisted programmes for many beneficiaries. Their programmes include “Horse-ibilities”, a programme that builds resilience, confidence and socio-emotional life skills in children and youths, “Horses by Your Side”, an initiative where their miniature horses visit and bring joy and comfort to bed-bound seniors in nursing homes, as well as “At Home with Horses”, an equine-assisted programme for children with adverse childhood experiences, including those in children’s homes and institutions.

Christmas at the Stables is a unique opportunity to experience the therapeutic and transformative power of interacting with horses. EQUAL will also be hosting beneficiary groups at Christmas at the Stables, ensuring that they too have a chance to partake in the year-end festivities alongside EQUAL’s animal partners.

From guided tours at EQUAL’s stable to meet-and-greet sessions with the horses, ticket holders will get a glimpse into how EQUAL’s programmes support the well-being and development of social, emotional and communication skills of children and youth, persons with special needs, and the elderly. For an even more in-depth and hands-on experience to understand how EQUAL cares for these horses, who in turn provide care and healing for those in need, there are “Behind-the-Stables Experiences” to walk with the horses, brush their manes, pick their hooves and even feed them.

Sustainable festive fun for all ages

Adding to the magic of the experience, the EQUAL stable and grounds will be lit up with repurposed Christmas lights from Orchard Road, thanks to the support of Singapore Tourism Board, Orchard Road Business Association and Q’s Advertising.

Other highlights include art workshops involving old horseshoes, recycled and nature-based materials, tractor rides, games and a communal art activity for all to join in.

Community-building and giving back at the Christmas Market

The Christmas at the Stables Christmas Market will feature pop-ups by homegrown brands including Birds of Paradise Gelato Boutique, Common Man Coffee Roasters, Brotherbird Bakehouse, Quan Shui Wet Market, City Sprouts, Rough Beauty, and more. These partners are donating part or all their proceeds in support of EQUAL.

EQUAL will also be launching a series of postcards and sticker sets during Christmas at the Stables, featuring artwork by 15 artists including Anngee Neo, Puffingmuffin, OAK & BINDI and In Warm Regard. Each artist had illustrated one of EQUAL’s horses in their own style, and these collectibles be available for a limited time only.
