Singapore Oceanarium’s (新加坡海洋生态馆) newest guided experience, Ocean in Focus: Apex Predators, takes visitors into the extraordinary world of sharks and other ocean predators. Launching in conjunction with World Shark Awareness Day, the 60-minute programme explores how some of the ocean’s most remarkable animals have evolved over hundreds of millions of years, the vital roles they play in marine ecosystems, and the care and conservation efforts that support them today.
Discover the evolution of the ocean’s greatest hunters
From ancient marine animals that once ruled prehistoric oceans to modern-day sharks that continue to shape marine ecosystems, Ocean in Focus: Apex Predators takes guests on a guided journey through time. Participants will uncover the adaptations that have allowed these animals to thrive, learn how predators help maintain healthy ocean ecosystems, and gain a deeper understanding of why protecting them matters.

A highlight of the programme is the exclusive access to a support area, where guests will gain a rare behind-the-scenes perspective of shark feeding operations at the Shark Seas habitat. At this support area, participants can view the habitat from a different perspective, touch real shark specimens, and even examine the chainmail safety equipment used during feeding operations.
This is also a rare opportunity to observe how Animal Care Specialists prepare and deliver food, and learn about the specialised care that supports the health and wellbeing of these animals. Through these encounters, guests gain first-hand insights into the expertise, planning, and dedication that goes into caring for sharks and other apex predators under human care.

Designed for families and curious learners alike, Ocean in Focus: Apex Predators combines storytelling, behind-the-scenes access and hands-on learning to make marine science accessible and engaging. Led by Singapore Oceanarium educators, the programme encourages participants to look beyond familiar perceptions of sharks and discover the important roles these animals play in keeping ocean ecosystems healthy.
Each participant will receive an immersive programmes lanyard, programme credential, shark species identification postcard and an exclusive Dunkleosteus plush keychain as a memento of their experience. The programme is priced at S$39 per participant, excluding admission to Singapore Oceanarium, and accommodates up to 12 participants per session. Sessions are conducted twice daily in English at 9.30am and 1.30pm, except on Wednesday when only the 1.30pm session is available. Bookings
