If you come down to Palawan Beach this Chinese New Year from the 9 to 17 Feb, you will be in for a blooming surprise. Stretching from Beach Station all the way to Palawan Beach, Sentosa, be greeted by the iridescent vibrant hues. From the warm lush tropical colours of sunflower yellow and forest green, to the cool temperate colours of royal blue and deep purple, this floral wonderland is a treat for your eyes!
Here are some the highlights:
Take Me on a Floral Carpet Ride
Once you step out from the Beach Station, embark on a floral carpet ride as 30,000 fresh flowers awaits you in Singapore’s first ever Giant Floral Carpet. Cupheas, carnations, forget-me-nots… the list of goes on. This display will be contesting for the ‘Largest Floral Carpet’ in the Singapore Book of Records. Near the floral carpet is the Zodiac Water Snake. This display ushers in the Lunar New Year of the snake, and depicts the arrival of the intelligent water snake.
Sandy Snake Slithering into the Singapore Book of Records
Another record Sentosa is attempting to set is the ‘Longest Snake Sand Sculpture in Singapore’. The Glittering Snake Trail, which will be the longest snake sand sculpture, was created by renowned sand artist JOOheng Tan along with 128 Sentosa staff volunteers.
Roses are red, violets are blue…
“A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love.” In conjunction with the Valentine’s Day, Sentosa Flowers has set up four different ‘season’ points in the display, Four Seasons of LOVE. Rekindle your passion with your partner and talk a slow romantic walk along the trail to spot the Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn Love Gardens.
You may also want to head to the southernmost point of Continental Asia (the two towers located at Palawan Beach). There you will not only find the Summer Love Garden but if you look down at the snake sculpture, you will be able to see something else. We won’t give the surprise away so go there and find out what it is!
Misunderstood creatures
Snakes are often misunderstood creatures, being portrayed negatively in the mass media. At the exhibition Fun about Snakes, children will learn about the different types of snakes and how they are important to us through fun games and activities. Look out for the life-sized Snake and Ladder game!
Only showing for 9 days, catch the flowers in their full bloom before it’s too late!
