Contribute to a rangoli artwork, try your hand at making a themed tea-light holder, and learn how to prepare popular Deepavali dishes. Or join our docents on guided tours to learn about the Hindu objects in our collection!

Learn about why and how Deepavali is celebrated in this informational video. K Sengkuttuvan, a member of the Hindu Endowments Board and the Inter-Religious Organisation, explores the importance of the Deepavali festival and some of the ways it is celebrated in Singapore.

Community Rangoli

Date: 22 to 23 October 2022
Time: 11am – 5pm
Venue: ACM Lobby

Try your hand at traditional rangoli art and learn why it is a part of Deepavali decorations by contributing to the creation of a large rangoli in ACM’s lobby. Visitors will be able see the rangoli on display at the museum from 24 to 28 October 2022.

What’s Cooking? Deepavali Cooking Demonstration with Inderpal Singh

Join chef and foodie Inderpal Singh (@mr.singh.eats) at this festive cooking demonstration! Get in the festive mood by learning how to create two popular Deepavali dishes. Pick up tips-and-tricks from a seasoned chef and discover why these dishes are cooked for the festival.

Drop-in Craft: Peacock Tea-lights

Celebrate Deepavali by creating your own pretty peacock tea-light candle embellished with layers of feathers made of air-dry clay! Make it part of your home decor at this fun, family-friendly drop-in craft activiy.
