Art Garden

The well loved Art Garden returns to the Singapore Art Museum this June with a selection of artworks chosen for their imagination and interactivity. Say hello to Walter, the curious colossal bunny. Catch the Dancing Solar Flowers installation and discover how light makes the flowers dance. Step into the fantastic blue universe of Paramodelic Graffiti, dress up life sized hand painted dolls in Mummy Dearest, shop at our lively Fruits market and create your own 3D paper fruit.

Don’t miss these works and more – spend a day of play and learning at Art Garden: Children’s Season at
SAM. A programme to introduce contemporary art to young visitors in an engaging, supportive and fun family environment, works on display at Art Garden will be complemented by art work labels and activity sheets to facilitate visitor engagement.

Bring the family and explore the Art Garden through engaging tours and create a craft project inspired by the artworks on display. Bond with your child and get to know each other better through joint art-making activities.

The PlayDome
Kaleidoscope of Dreams

The PlayDome is a new creative platform specially designed by the National Museum for children aged three and above. The PlayDome offers a dedicated space of five different zones where children can engage with interactive exhibits or choose to partner with artists to create playful works in various art forms. The PlayDome hopes to invite children – inspired by their experiences of visiting the permanent galleries – to express their unique voices through participating in these meaningful and fun activities.

Lotte Reiniger is one of the greatest creators in animation history. Inspired by Chinese silhouette puppetry, she made 60 beautiful and mesmerising films, 40 of which still survive today. These delicately wrought black and white marvels revolutionised the film industry in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, and brought timeless faerie tales to life for children and adults to enjoy like never before.

Peranakan Museum pernakan-museum
Little Cartoonist goes Peranakan! 14 Jun 2011 Tuesday | 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. | @ The Ixora Room, Peranakan Museum

Children will learn the basic techniques and tricks of cartooning and create a cartoon about their visit to the museum. Each participant will receive a complimentary cartooning kit. This workshop also includes Peranakan snacks, a museum tour and a free goodie bag for registered participants.
