People’s Association Youth Chinese Orchestra (PAYCO), a full-fledged orchestra involving multi-ethnic musicians will be performing with their traditional instruments to compositions that embrace Singapore’s multi-cultural identity and global flavour. The performance will showcase People’s Association leading role in promoting racial harmony and strengthening Singapore’s multi-ethnic heritage through music and dance, including classical Chinese melodies, familiar folks tunes such as Di Tanjong Katong, Munneru Valiba as well as popular pop song Mambo No. 5.

Symphony Lake Botanic Gardens

Opera in the Park
Date: 4 June 2016

Launched since June 2008 at Singapore Botanic Gardens, Opera in the Park is an outreach programme by the Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO), which aims to expand the opera experience to a wider audience. This outdoor event offers popular favourites from musicals and operas. Audiences are encouraged to bring family and friends and have a picnic at the concert.

To commemorate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, SLO is presenting a programme of operatic and musical highlights with Shakespeare’s themes and stories.
