From 29 April till 29 May, don’t miss the chance to experience the beauty of a rainbow that will linger for far longer at the Malay Heritage Centre‘s (MHC) Rainbow Connection II.

Rainbow Connection II’s light units are designed and individually painted by beneficiaries from social service agency Brighton Connection based on two themes: “In the Woods” and “In the Deep”. Uniting the community through creativity and art, the art piece is a portrayal of the social fabric that holds individuals together, painting a picture of solidarity amidst diversity. The installation encircles the MHC fountain with light and will travel to MacPherson estate and Somerset Youth Park later this year.

Beneficiaries at Brighton ConnectionBeneficiaries at Brighton Connection contribute their artworks to the installation at a workshop conducted by artist Lee Yun Qin.

Mr Alvin Tan, Deputy Chief Executive (Policy & Community), National Heritage Board (NHB), said: “The installation is part of NHB’s and MHC’s ongoing accessibility efforts to strengthen community connections by working with local artists to engage underserved communities, and provide public spaces for artists and communities to showcase their works. In this case, we decided to collaborate and create an installation that would reflect our collective hope for a better future for Singaporeans and for Singapore as we further ease COVID-19 community measures.”

To welcome more visitors to enjoy the light installation at night, MHC will be extending its opening hours till 9pm from 29 April to 29 May 2022. More details on the Rainbow Connection II’s display below
