Make a Difference and Go Green today!
Earth is our home and it is our responsibility to help create and maintain a clean and green environment, and make the world a better place to live in. From 9 March to 22 April 2018, AMK Hub is rolling out a line-up of activities to encourage shoppers to take action for environmental conservation, so that we can develop a sustainable home for the generations to come.
A spokesperson from AMK Hub said, “AMK Hub has been participating in Earth Hour since 2010 and this year marks the 9th year of our commitment towards going green. As a neighbourhood community mall, we believe in a multi-agency approach when it comes to promoting environmental sustainability. This campaign is particularly meaningful for us as we are collaborating with educators and non-profit organisations to inculcate sustainable living from a young age, and advocate the importance of combating climate change.”
As part of the global Earth Hour and Earth Day initiatives, AMK Hub invites you to go green with us! Simply start with the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Please refer to the information below for more details on how you can participate in AMK Hub’s Go Green activities.
1. Inter-school Recycling Competition
Leading up to Earth Day on 22 April, AMK Hub is partnering 3 Primary Schools in Ang Mo Kio’s neighourhood to present an inter-school recycling competition. Over 60 students between Primary 3 to 6 from Andersen Primary, Mayflower Primary and Teck Ghee Primary will take on the challenge to create art pieces or functional objects using recycled materials. 10 of the schools’ best upcycling creations will be shortlisted and will then be displayed at AMK Hub, Level 4 for public viewing and voting!
The competition hopes to instil and promote recycling habits, environmental awareness, good social behaviour and creativity from an early age. This platform also allows students to showcase their artistic talent and creative flair in expressing their support and appreciation for a clean and green environment.
The public can get involved too, where they can vote for their favourite creation on AMK Hub’s website. The top 3 teams with the highest number of votes will be rewarded with attractive prizes, while voters will win AMK Hub vouchers!
