ACA Kids Boot Camp

For N1 and N2

This is a theme-based programme that uses: stories; songs; discussions; drama activities; craft work; movement; music and improvised adventures to develop Confidence, Creativity and Collaboration. Each day, your child will take home a craft created in class that is related to and used in their themed adventure activities.

ACA Kids MindChamps

In this boot camp, your child will:

  • Learn to build characterisation through acting techniques based on individual themes.
  • Improve emotional control through emotion-based explorations.
  • Improve vocal projection and oral language skills by speaking in front of their friends and in group settings.
  • Develop the confidence to express their ideas through open discussions, storytelling and improvisation.
  • Explore language and develop comprehension skills by taking part in interactive storytelling.
  • Develop gross motor skills through drama, songs and movement.
  • Develop collaboration skills by listening and accepting others’ ideas through various team-based theatrical activities.
  • Develop creativity by participating in exciting, improvised adventures.
  • Take home a daily craft related to and used in their themed adventure activities.

For K1 and K2

This is a creativity and acting skills-based programme that uses: stories; discussions; drama activities; movement; music; improvised activities, scenes and adventures to develop Confidence, Creativity and Collaboration. Every day your kid gets the opportunity to use, explore and engage with various props and costume pieces from the Creativity Chest. These items are used as a stimulus to create monologues, dialogues and improvised scenes. The Creativity Chest allows your kids to push their creative limits and lets their ideas soar! Your kid will also prepare for and rehearse a short performance that parents can watch at the end of the boot camp. So, come and join us and watch your kid shine!!!

In this boot camp, your child will:

  • Learn and expand characterisation through acting techniques based on the individual mini themes.
  • Improve and build emotional control through emotion-based acting explorations.
  • Improve vocal projection and oral language skills by learning proper vocal projection techniques, speaking in front of others and in a group setting.
  • Develop the confidence to express their ideas through open discussions, storytelling and improvisation.
  • Explore spoken language and their ideas by taking part in interactive storytelling and discussions.
  • Develop collaboration skills by actively listening, accepting others’ ideas, and developing teamwork through a multitude of theatrical activities.
  • Develop and cultivate creativity through improvised practical activities, scenes and adventures.
  • Use props and costume pieces from the Creativity Chest each day to create monologues, dialogues and improvised scenes.
  • Stage a short performance for parents at the end of the week.

Thinking Cap Workshop

Through MindChamps’ proprietary Thinking Cap Programme, you can empower your child with the crucial learning, thinking and communication skills needed to excel in school and beyond. This fun-filled workshop is specially designed to introduce the Champion Mindset to P2 – P5 students. Primary Success Workshop

Let your Primary 3 & 4 child stay productive this September Holiday and be ahead of their peers for Term 4 2019! Our curriculum for this 2-day workshop is designed to enhance and further polish skills that are taught in school, deepen the understanding of concepts and foster collaborative skills through group or pair work.

ENGLISH

  • Learning to write creatively and to differentiate your child’s writing from their peers using figurative language
  • Equipping your child with a range of tools to write the best composition
  • Mastering grammar rules and learning the secrets to acing cloze passages
  • Learning the art of writing a good story
  • Brainstorming story ideas in pairs / groups and identifying if the ideas will contribute to a plausible plot
  • Revision on grammar rules
  • Learning how teachers set cloze passages and how to use contextual clues to derive the answers

CHINESE

  • Using imagination and learn how to exercise creativity and critical thinking through hands-on exercises to produce a good piece of composition
  • Introduction of external expressions through the use of descriptive language
  • Explaining a situation and the cause-and-effect of that situation
  • Using emotion words and adding details to give life to characters
  • Understanding the usage of idioms and proverbs
  • Applying of senses and colours in composition writing
  • Proper grammar usage in construction of sentences

MATH

  • Learning and applying the ‘Assumption’ or ‘Guess & Check’ heuristics to solve problem sums
  • Developing thinking, reasoning and application skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving
  • Building confidence and fostering interest in mathematics through concept formation activities
  • Using manipulatives to concretise the problem sums
  • Brainstorming and discussing in pairs/groups on how to solve the problem sums
  • Identifying what type of problem sums the ‘Assumption’ or ‘Guess & Check’ heuristics can be applied to
  • Using the Assumption’ or ‘Guess & Check’ heuristics to solve the problem sums

SCIENCE

  • Identifying a force as a push or pull
  • Recognising that friction is a force that opposes motion
  • Recognising that friction can occur between air and other materials
  • Recognising that friction can occur between water and another material (water resistance)

P1 Chinese Culture Workshop – The Chinese Time Travel Explorer

Any workshop with less than six (6) will be closed or participants may choose to reschedule the workshop / trial class at the next available workshop / trial class. No refund will be allowed when there is a “no-show” on the day of workshop.
