Dragon's Beard Candy Making Marina Square

Have a sweet start to the Year of the Dragon by participating in Marina Square’s first-ever Dragon’s Beard Candy making workshop and savour Dragon’s Elixirs. Visitors, from adults to the young, can discover the art of crafting dragon’s beard candies together. Dragon’s Beard Candy is a traditional Chinese sweet that dates back hundreds of years. It is prepared by hand-pulling firm malt into thousands of delicious, melt-in-the-mouth thin threads resembling its namesake “dragon’s beard”.

During the 1.5-hour workshop, watch and learn directly from dragon’s beard masters Roger and Elaine Poon, the relatives of late “Auntie Lily”, Singapore’s first female Dragon’s Beard Master from Singapore Dragon’s Beard. Participants will learn the history and legends of this imperial delicacy, plus try their hand at making around 10 candies with Coconut and Peanut fillings. As an exciting highlight of the workshop, every participant will also be handed the exclusive Dragon’s Elixirs and experience what it is like to be a roaring dragon, emitting a dragon’s misty breath. Each participant will savour the delicacies filled with peanut, coconut, and sesame. Discover a taste like never before and capture the unforgettable moment with Instagram-worthy photos.

The workshop is priced at $38 for a single adult or an adult with a child below 12 years old, register for the workshop at Marina Square’s Customer Service Counter.

Each participant will also receive a complimentary pack of specially designed red packets and Betsubara ice-cream voucher worth $6.
