Ten irresistible tots and their doting parents put on an adorable, energy-fuelled show on 2 June 2012, Saturday, at the Carrefour Suntec City Atrium, as they competed for the coveted title of Little Carrefour Ambassador 2012.
Nadyne Marsya Bte Mohamed Rahymie, aged 1 year and 3 months, emerged as the overall champion, scooping up the grand prize of a $2,000 Carrefour voucher and an esteemed one year baby modeling contract for Carrefour advertising campaigns.
As a pioneer of large-scale baby-centred events within the industry, it was Carrefour’s third year launching the nationwide baby search. Aiming to promote family bonding and celebrate the warmth of inter-generational family ties, the event drew an impressive and spirited crowd from all over Singapore. The event also provided attending parents and families with the opportunity to peruse and purchase specially-sold products from Carrefour Tiny Town. As a sophisticated department unique to Carrefour Suntec City, it is the premier one-stop shopping haven for any and every baby-related product a child could ever need.
The competition initially began with an extensive search for the most adorable tot in Singapore, which ran for 42 days from 17 Feb to 29 March. To participate in the competition, parents undertook the process of first spending $10 and above at Carrefour outlets before logging on to the website to submit their child’s details and most radiant photograph. Carrefour received over 548 submissions from across the island, from which ten finalists were eventually shortlisted to battle it out for the crown baby-style.
Beaming parents, their adorable children, supporters and passers-by were treated to a varied, fun-packed programme that included an ‘Introduce Me!’ parent-child catwalk, ‘Mummy, I’m talented!’ talent segment, adrenaline-pumping ‘Speedy Baby’ race and a magic show.
Excitement ran high throughout the afternoon as parents and offspring worked their charm tirelessly to impress the judges. Gracing the judging panel were Ms Jemy Ang from Elise Distributor Pte Ltd, prize sponsor for the competition, Mr Herman Tjia, Head of Marketing and Communications, Carrefour Singapore and Ms Sonia Yue, Head of Human Resources, Carrefour Singapore.
Little Carrefour Ambassador 2011, Hiedra Federica, was invited on stage with her father to share their year’s worth of experiences before the catwalk kicked off in style. Adorned with deep blue satin trimmings and decorated with clusters of pink, purple and teddy bear design balloons, the stage was the perfect welcome platform for finalists and their parents to demonstrate their fun and loving bond. In the talent segment, parents cooed over their performing little ones as they enraptured the crowd with their show of athleticism, strength, grooving, bubble-popping, funny faces, hugging and all-around cuteness.
A particular highlight of the competition was the Speedy Baby Race, which comprised two categories, crawlers and walkers, with the respective winners receiving an additional $100 Carrefour voucher. Babies and toddlers alike raced on a colourful, number-printed canvas mat amidst enthusiastic cheers and laughter, rewarding the judges with a generous view of them up-close and personal.
After a magical two hours during which top finalists charmed their way into the audience’s hearts and had a new Little Ambassador crowned, the event drew to a close and ended on an extremely high note, with even greater hopes for the coming year.
Carrefour Singapore has produced a video of the event to share with its contestants and customers, which showcases the competition proceedings and crowning of their newest Little Ambassador.
