Today is not really about parenting.  It is about an inspiring father, Dr Randy Pausch who have passed away due to metastasised pancreatic cancer leaving behind his 3 young children As a parent, I felt sad by the fact that he has left behind his 3 young children. Given a choice, he would very much love to stay with his children and family to shower them with his love rather than leaving a message in the bottle.

He wrote the book, The Last Lecture. This book is about living life to the fullest and realizing your childhood dreams. In this book, I see Dr Randy Pausch a person who live his life with zest and to the fullest. I am impressed by all his achievements and his ability to realize almost all his childhood dreams. I believe in the law of attraction. When you want something very badly and focus on it, your subconscious mind will bring you to your ultimate destination.

As a mum, this book does not only only provides words of wisdom to live my life but also how to be a parent to my children.

In Dr Randy Pausch’s last lecture, he says that he has a very good childhood and he credited his parents teachings to what he has become. He salute his parents for allowing him to paint the wall of the house.  He appreciate them for the happy childhood that he has. I hope one day, I could play a big role in shaping my children too.  A good childhood is the essential to a fulfilling adulthood.  I believe helping your children fulfilling their childhood dreams is even more fulfilling that achieving your own.

Here’s a short clip to Dr Randy’s lecture and this one is my favourite.  Listen carefully to what he has to say and I am sure regardless who you are, you are bound to learn something from it.
