Science Centre Singapore and Smithsonian Channel commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing with Moonshot 50

Spend your weekend under the planets on 20 July. Pre-register to reserve a telescope today!

Event Overview
“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Neil Armstrong’s famous words as he stepped on the Moon on 20th July 1969.

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing, Science Centre Singapore presents “Moonshot 50”, a temporary exhibition curated to celebrate mankind’s curiosity and obsession with the Moon. The exhibition features “To The Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA”, which showcases the involvement of Snoopy and the Peanuts in NASA’s space journey. Snoopy eventually became the safety mascot for the Apollo missions.

There’s also more for the family as the Centre’s signature outdoor event, “Picnic Under The Planets”, returns for a dazzling evening from 6pm to 11.30pm. Jointly organized by Science Centre Singapore and the Smithsonian Channel, in partnership with Blue Ant Media and StarHub, the event promises to be an experience that transports you to stars with movie screenings on the Lakeside Lawn, food and beverage stalls and stargazing through telescopes.

Plus, experience an out-of-this-world close-up of some of the landmark events that defined the start of the Space Age by downloading the Smithsonian Channel’s augmented reality app “Apollo’s Moon Shot”. Other activities that day comprise a Super Cool Science Show, Live Planetarium Shows at the Omni-Theatre and a lucky draw.
