Dear self-employed mum-to-be, do you know that you can have a good rest and do not need to worry about the lost of income during the first few months after your child birth.   While the employed mum-to-be get their maternity benefits, the government has a scheme that compensate self-employed mum during the first few months so that they could recuperate with a ease of mind.

I just discovered how much I have lose out today due to my can’t be bothered attitude to all the financial schemes that government has introduced to encourage child birth.  I was having tea with a girlfriend of mine just now.  She is a self-employed financial planner and pregnant with a baby boy due in October.  She was excited about the birth of her baby boy despite the lost of her income for the months to come after the birth of her son. While she  was happily relating the Government Paid Maternity Leave for self-employed mum to me and how much she will benefit from it, I was thinking to myself that if I were to be more aware of these policies, I would have benefited from them.  Here, I would like to bring the awareness of mother-to-be who are self-employed to this scheme and some other schemes that could benefit you.

These are the following schemes available for parents in Singapore

  1. Government Paid Maternity Leave - http://fcd.ecitizen.gov.sg/GovernmentPaidMaternityLeave
  2. Baby Bonus - https://www.babybonus.gov.sg/bbss/html/index.html
  3. Infant and Child Care Relief - http://www.childcarelink.gov.sg/ccls/home/faq.jsp
  4. Domestic Worker Levy Concession - http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/communities/work_pass/foreign_domestic_workers/during_employment/foreign_domestic_worker.html

Check out on these schemes and see how they can benefit you!
